Home in time for Valentine's dinner! Harry jets out of Arctic Circle on £20k private flight after three-hour trip to see Marines' training site – including 'shrine' to Meghan installed by cheeky troops in a snow shelter
The  spent his first Valentine's Day as a married man in one of the planet's harshest climates, meeting British armed forces taking part in winter survival training in the Arctic Circle.

Harry, who travelled to northern Norway by charter plane, took a flight believed to have cost around £20,000 to meet British servicemen taking part in the gruelling Exercise Clockwork during a whistlestop tour of their base on Thursday.

As part of his visit Harry was shown a Quincey Shelter, resembling a makeshift igloo, that had been decorated with photographs of his wedding to Meghan ahead of his arrival - which he laughingly referred to as a 'shrine' as romantic music played in the background.

The duke, who was dressed in Royal Marines uniform for the first time, met with temperatures just over freezing point when he stepped off the double-engine Cessna Citation Excel at the Bardufoss air station, 200 miles (322km) within the Arctic Circle, this morning.

The state-of-the-art 18ft plane flies in and out of smaller airports while offering 'the comfort and amenities of a midsize cabin jet' according to Cessna.

A direct chartered flight on the Citation Excel - based on a seven-hour round trip from Farnborough to Bardufoss for seven people - would cost between £18,200 and £21,450 according to Luxaviation.

Mods, why’s there 2 engagement threads; one for prince Harry and one for the Duke of Sussex? It’s confusing to know which one to post in. Maybe the Prince Harry one should be used after he’s free of the narc cold ball of chain he’s attached to.  eating cookies
^ I wonder how much money was spent on this 3 hour trip.

Well, actually, Philip was on board ship on a naval engagement for the date of his first wedding anniversary, which in 1940s Britain was one heck of a lot more important than Valentine's Day, which has always been celebrated more in the US than in Britain. And the Queen and Phil have been married for over 70 years.

It means nothing. Valentines Day has gotten way too commercial and much of its meaning is lost. They are not doomed.

V day is V day. I don't see any reason to undervalue the importance of the holiday. There's also birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas. All are important. It's not just any other day of the year. If a newlywed treats V day like it's any other day of the year, they are really not right for each other. Anyone who says "it's just another day" or "it's become commercial and that's why I won't buy you flowers or treat you to something on that that" does not deserve to be in a relationship, imo.

Did someone seriously thought that HM's life during WWII is comparable to MM's jet set life who counts dressing up for garden parties and galas as 'work'? .. Unbelievable.

He was back in London by 5pm yesterday after the 2,730-mile round trip — and six hours in the air.

Taxpayers will pick up the estimated £26,000 cost of his Cessna flight.

^Where Harry was going in Norway was, for the duration of Operation Clockwork, in a restricted military zone. So he couldn't fly by commercial airline (something he frequently does) as they wouldn't be flying planes there.

^^^^ What has Prince Philip spending his first wedding anniversary on board ship to do with the Second World War, which ended in 1945? Elizabeth and Philip wed in 1947.
As for Valentine's Day in Britain it's never been celebrated as much as it is in the US, and in the last few years it's become even less popular.

Very much agree, Meghan's going nowhere.  Harry is doing important engagements and its good to see this.  He looks as good as ever.

Interesting (astro) charts of main BRF players - Charles, Camila, Kate, William, Harry and Meghan - shows difficult transits to all of them...

Future will tell what it hold for meghan and harry... their fans like it or not the signs are there...

queen and philip are no exemple to be followed or any other couple living separate lives as far as i'm concerned...
