i dont think there's a future (let alone a good one) in a marriage when since the courtship the man takes his future wife to visit his mistress with  his girlfriend thinking she was good friend and btw the girlfriend disliked and mistrust his good friend but never talked to her boyfriend about her feeling re:his 'good friend'.... diana said even when charles phoned her he talked about camilla having a tough time with the papz around her home, she never talked about her feelings re:his good friend and his lack of interest in herself (diana) dealing 20/30 papz everyday.

Sorry but the 3 of them were a recipe for disaster. Diana herself when living at BP and engaged to charles said he sent flowers (with their nicknames Fred & Gladys? she said started to understand the things after that) to camilla because she was ill and after they were married when she was back from Princess Grace of Monaco funeral  and she thought charles would pick her at airport and there was just the police and no flowers.

As Princess Michael said Diana was just a uterus to charles. The fact he's a cad is on HIS OWN.

But it's obvious Camilla isnt royal material. Probably Margaret had more sense of duty than her

Diana told Morton she thought Charles loved her. And the Camilla episodes would end when they got married. She was naive enough to think it was "over". At first Diana was out to impress Camilla because it was well known that Camilla the "safe" married friend had to approve or disapprove the girlfriends. And Diana saw a mature looking woman with a husband and two small children and did not see the whole picture or Camilla as a "threat".

Diana did not "ask for it." She was up against two manipulators and Camilla was very cagy. Diana was not experienced enough to be more aware of things and she had no previous steady boyfriend.

There would have been a future if Charles did what Diana expected him to do, be honorable and stop seeing his ex. Diana thought he really loved her and she was the "one".

^ Poor Diana. It is just shocking to me that all of this happened to that pretty young woman and no one in all of the RF and her family did one damn thing to help her. All of them have a lot to answer for regarding this.

^bloody shame isn't it. Diana gave the royal family cache and worldwide interest. She opened the world to the royal family because she was so admired and world leaders wanted to me her and be charmed by her. Now it seems like the royal family, other than the queen and possibly Philip, are just tolerated and for a large part, ignored. The thought that Charles wouldn't automatically take over beig the head of the Commonwealth would've been unheard of if Diana was still in the picture and he acted like a decent husband an a future king with a lot to lose.

"Now it seems like the royal family, other than the queen and possibly Philip, are just tolerated and for a large part, ignored."

you can to be sure liz and phil (along with their crazy family) are really ignored - there's NO respect for them - at best they're seen as a exotic thing from England but by most a British idiocy.

As for Charles and Diana were really a terrible mistake. 2 people extremely different and who meant never to be together but just for the sake of destroy the monarchy (maybe that was their karma, who knows?). He'll have never even courted her without the advice of Camilla. I'm sorry for her, everyone else screw up when (at 19, early 20s) young, but she paid a too high price IMO. Philipe Junot, 1rst hubby of Princess Caroline of Monaco is probably a angel with halo next to Charles

Charles knew the score (totally) Diana did not. She was courted by Charles because Camilla recommended her as the "perfect mouse" who would not interfere in their relationship. I place the blame on Charles because he married her knowing he did not love her and if he did not love her and preferred Camilla he should have sat down with Diana and told her he was not marrying for love and he would be "seeing" Camilla. Diana should have been apprised of all the facts before the proposal. She was not in the same generation as Charles and not in his circle until he started seeing her.

^Charles, being the entitled spoiled brat that he was, probably saw nothing wrong in what he did. All the same, it was monstrous.

You know, the BRF like to fancy themselves as politicians, but real politicians do not let the mistress undermine the wife. If Charles knew anything about politicking, he would have smacked Camilla down while Camilla was mistress and ordered Camilla out of his life and made sure she (Camilla) stayed out. No politician lets the mistress decide anything.

And he did say he wouldn't be the only POW without a mistress (or three).

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall appeared in excellent spirits as they stepped out for a Commonwealth event on Tuesday.

The royal couple beamed as they met delegates at the Commonwealth Big Lunch at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London.

It comes amid speculation that Charles, 69, is set to be approved as the next head of the Commonwealth this week, despite calls from Labour for him to step aside.

In the DM article today, Camilla smirks triumphantly. If Charles had any brains he would not have her walking in the procession. She is a very tacky person.

Charles will be the next Head of the Commonwealth. The 53 leaders have made the announcement. It seems it wasn't even voted as their was consensus that the position should go to him.

Realistically, who else would this job have gone to? These guys weren’t wined and dined and treated to opulent splendor that the queen could offer and that treatment will continue when Charles takes over. IMO, it was a logical choice.

They won't be wined and dined in the UK for probably another 20 - 30 years though as the meetings move around the Commonwealth - next time it will be Malaysia. It should have been Vanuatu this year but due to the natural disasters that hit the island they couldn't host it and so it was sent to London.

They could have moved into the 21st century and decided on a rotating Head but they also know that would then make it too political and end up destroying the organisation.

What they have realistically done is made the position hereditary. Does anyone realistically believe that they will go through this process again in about 20 years when Charles is approaching 90 to decide if William should succeed his father?

Given how many of the people of the Commonwealth are young I think they could have done something radical but also keeping the Windsors involved - made William Head after the Queen but on the clear understanding that the position is then held by the heir apparent and not the monarch so when William becomes King then George takes over as Head of the Commonwealth. Effectively Charles is head now as the Queen doesn't do overseas long haul visits and outside of the UK and Malta most of the Commonwealth countries are long haul so Charles could have been appointed now with the Queen as Emeritus Head and then William takes over when Charles succeeds etc.

Of course they should have gone with an elected head chosen by all the citizens of the Commonwealth from a short list of non-politician nominees.
