What It Costs to Dress Like Meghan Markle: An Investigation
Since her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has made public appearances in elegant dresses by Prada, Oscar de la Renta, and Carolina Herrera, not to mention her show-stopping wedding gown by Givenchy. And though as an actress she was accustomed to being loaned dresses by fashion houses, as a royal she’s no longer entitled to take freebies—and the cost for her working wardrobe as a royal and royal-to-be is estimated to be as much as $1 million.
The Duchess of Sussex’s go-to designer, Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller, charges in the region of $10,000 for a bespoke frock like the cream dress Meghan wore to Royal Ascot last week. While Meghan is given a discreet discount by some of her favorite designers, including Ralph & Russo, who made the $75,000 couture dress she wore for her official engagement pictures, her designer frocks can still be eye-poppingly expensive. There was the chic $18,000 Givenchy dress Meghan wore for her first away day to Cheshire with the Queen earlier this month, and the off-the-shoulder $4,000 Carolina Herrera skirt and top Meghan chose for Trooping the Colour. The royal family also covered the cost of Meghan’s two wedding dresses: the $265,000 boatneck Givenchy dress designed by Clare Waight Keller and the bespoke white halter-neck Stella McCartney evening frock, which are the two most expensive pieces in her wardrobe to date.

Does she have a sigar daddy, because we know that Charles and Harry wouldn’t waste all that money for clothes and accessories. They’ll have to be an investigation into how much her maintenance such as facials, makeup, hair, etc.

^Well, damn, this idiot is exposing the fact that they are getting clothes at a discounted rate just because she feels that she is "royal" and should wear uber expensive designers. And if the clothes are not at a discount rate then she has already gone through her savings in 6 months and will soon Charles' and Harry's in a year!

I didn't know that the RF paid for her wedding and wedding reception gowns?  huh I thought she paid for each herself. And the sugars say she is a millionaire.

Shame, no discretion, she will be the straw that breaks the RF bank account.  laugh

^ Nope, the Winds footed the whole bill. She doesn't have anywhere near the money sugars like to claim and it was PR that she'd pay for her own dress. She probably blew her last savings on her effort to snag Harry, playing "rich, successful humanitarian and actress".

That’s ok.  The IRS taxes on FMV (fair market value) and any difference, if reduced, is subject to Gift Tax percentages which can be higher.  If she received the entire item as a gift then the whole shebang is taxed at income levels.  The BRF need their collective heads examined for wasting money and will be taxed as well because it went to a US citizen. The receiver will only owe it as income especially if used in a publication that paid for her photo.

Maybe all the years of makeup for the TV cameras got her used to a certain kind of makeup. She needs to get a fashion consultant to change the type of makeup.

She’s a celebrity and a grown woman with a mirror and access to published photos of herself.  This is on her.

If she can't put her makeup on properly at age 37 there's no hope for her.  Period.

Meghan Markle has gone from chic to a fashion disaster
But for the past six weeks, the new Duchess of Sussex’s fashion selections have come under fire: from her choice of sheer pantyhose to the tailoring of her dresses to her oversize pumps. Drawing particular ire was a blue and white Oscar de la Renta dress that she wore on June 17 to the wedding of Harry’s cousin. The Internet caught fire with incendiary criticisms of the $5,490 frock’s too-long sleeves and ill-fitting torso.
On Twitter, it was compared to both a sack of potatoes and the “Gone With the Wind” scenes where Scarlett O’Hara fashions a dress from curtains.  tehe tehe
The public disappointment with these perceived missteps may stem from the fact that the duchess is dealing with the pressures and expectations of her new role largely on her own. (Jessica gt dumped).  eating cookies
Before the wedding, Meghan had a secret style weapon: her best friend, Jessica Mulroney. Now, it seems they’re not working together as closely, and it shows.
But with Mulroney in Canada (where Meghan lived while starring on “Suits”) and the duchess, 36, in England, the new royal has been left to live up to the royal rules of decorum on her own.
“The royal family is a firm and the protocol is huge,” said British designer Caroline Castigliano. “We’re seeing everything about Meghan change. It’s very difficult when you’re 36 to do this — it’s far easier when you’re in your early 20s and they can mold and adapt you. It’s a much bigger job for Meghan. It must be unbelievably difficult that Meghan was a working woman and had her own style.” *really, she's broken quite a few and has gotten away wth it).
One of the biggest changes has been to her palette. Previously, Meghan wore plenty of bold hues: scarlet red, midnight blue, forest green, plus rich plaids and stripes. Now, she all but fades into the background in white, cream and the palest of pinks. Royal watchers say the wallflower look is in deference to Queen Elizabeth, to whom the duchess has been seen cozying up to at recent public events.
“At events with the queen, she lets Her Majesty shine,” said William Hanson, an expert on proper British etiquette. “The queen is top of the bill. Meghan is on the bill, not top of the bill.”  thumbsup tehe
With Mulroney back in Toronto, it seems Meghan has someone else guiding her, at least a bit.
“At the moment, she’s really dressing like Kate,” Castigliano said of Meghan’s sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge. “At this stage, Kate is probably giving her tons of advice on how to fit in.”
Sources say that Kate’s assistant, Natasha Archer, has been calling in clothes from designers for Meghan until she hires an assistant of her own.
One big difference, one source pointed out, is that Kate’s clothes “fit her like a glove” because all the designers know her sizing, while Meghan is still developing her relationships.
Castigliano agrees. In fact, she predicts that the duchess will slowly make a return to the stylish, youthful Meghan with whom the public first fell in love.
“Over the next year, Meghan will have more designers throwing themselves at her, and she will adapt her style,” she said. “It will be fabulous when she takes everything she learns and ‘Meghan-izes’ it.”  tehe

^^Kate still needs help herself in that department.   Cool
Maybe Jessica dropped Meghan and doesn’t want to be known as her stylist anymore. It’s not that she did a great job with her before the celebrity wedding/royal wedding.

Meghan Markle Looks Summer-Ready in Sandals at Audi Polo Club
The former “Suits” actress stunned in a knee-length, gingham Shoshanna dress with an A-line skirt and tie at the waist. The American-made dress features flattering cut-in shoulders and retails for $395. She wore her hair underneath a casual hat with black ribbon trim — a style similar to previous hats she has worn.
The 36-year-old completed her look with brown sandals, reportedly by designer Sarah Flint. The New York-based designer has become a favorite of Markle’s, along with Aquazzura and Manolo Blahnik.
While Markle undoubtedly has an enviable wardrobe, her looks come at a high price tag. According to Entertainment Tonight, the Duchess of Sussex has worn $1 million worth of clothing since she and Prince Harry became engaged in November. Of course, a large portion of that total came from her wedding looks, with her Givenchy ceremony dress reportedly costing over $400,000 and her Stella McCartney reception gown costing more than $150,000.
