How Meghan took the plunge! Star wore a $298 velvet dress with a VERY daring neckline for her first Christmas Day with the Queen at Sandringham
Quote
Eagle-eyed royal watchers would have caught just a fleeting glimpse of red velvet as Meghan, 36, walked to church, and now Canadian retailer Club Monaco has confirmed the former Suits star was wearing its $298 (£220) Tay dress for the occasion.

^ I've seen that dress on another forum worn as a wrap dress, with one side pulled over and tied to the side leaving a short V-neck, which is undoubtedly how Meghan wore it. The Fail trying to stir the pot as per usual, but this time not even their commenters are biting. As if anyone would wear a gaping dress like that to a Royal lunch with their fiance's grandmother!

Who the heck is so fashion blind as to wear a velvet dress (during the day?) with scrunch suede boots and a structured handbag that doesn't even come close to matching?  Someone with no class I guess.

Elle UK discusses the dress, showing it wrap-style as it undoubtedly was worn IMO(and velvet is worn in Britain during the winter indoors in big old country houses. I've done it myself.) My guess is Meghan took the boots off and put indoor shoes on.

There are ways to wear velvet and a wraparound cocktail dress is not one of those ways in a daytime party in Big Country Homes. I agree she probably changed shoes because she would have to have been a nutcase to wear those tan boots with a velvet burgundy cocktail dress. Hopefully she kept her trench coat on during the church service. So I wonder if everybody  changes shoes or is it just Meghan that wears non matching shoes to one place so that she has to change them in the next. Her trench coat look was too casual for that event and her cocktail dress is too dressy. But I see that she gets her styles from the different celebrities that are wearing that eclectic look, and yes Rihanna was wearing a long velvet dress with metallic sandals to some event so you wait  Megan will be wearing those rhinestone flip flops just like I predicted. The bottom line is she is Hollywood and she will emulate that. So I don't know that there's really much more to say that's just where she comes from and she's too old to change easily. And you know what maybe nobody will Care accept us that she dresses Hollywood. You mark my word she's going back to acting at some point no doubt about it.

^ Probably everybody changes if they're wearing boots outside. I would bet that Eugenie wore (dirty) sneakers to that morning church service because her boots hadn't been cleaned. Country walks can get quite muddy and messy in the winter.

The model wearing the dress shows half her breasts in the elle article. I like the dress but it does not seem the best choice for lunch with the Queen.

I thought she had better style and was more smart. Non of her choices make me feel she understand with who she is going to marry.

Alright I went back and read what Kate had worn to Christmas and the Articles talked about that she had to change outfits five times throughout the day. She and Wills have two church ceremonies they have to go to I guess cuz they're the monarchs to be . But she has to wear a dress for lunch a cocktail dress for cocktails and a evening gown for dinner in addition to the Christmas walk suit and coat and the breakfast outfit. So I'm not sure if that velvet cocktail dress ME wore was for the evening cocktails or she wore it at lunch. So if she didn't wear it at lunch then it would be appropriate for the evening. So in all fairness maybe she wasn't so awfully dressed at Christmas. I still think the trench coat was too casual.

I'm not too sure they still do these many outfit changes. I know it was still normal when Diana married in, but it was said that they have relaxed on this.
W&K don't go twice to the church, Liz & Phil do and others often join them, eg Bea & Eug, but the Cambs have never joined Liz & Phil so far for the "private" morning service, only for the public one with the walk around noon.
And for past Xmases when the Cambs deigned to be at Sandringham, the Midds would usually bunk at Anmer, and the Cambs wouldn't spend the day quite with Liz & Phil, so I'd presume even if the outfit changes were still normal (which I doubt they are), W&K got around them.

I have read that it is assumed the Winds are decked out in tiaras and all for Xmas dinner (or lunch?), no idea whether true.

PS Even if this many changes were still normal, Murkles still failed, as for one inappropiate for church and for another inappropriate to have your tits out in front of the in-laws you don't know yet. I wouldn't dare wear that revealing a dress during cocktail hour amongst my family, never mind in-laws I've just met..

DM enjoys stirring the waters. For one thing I doubt Meghan would have been allowed in if she wore that dress without alterations--and exactly as the model.  There are no photos of her in this dress.  The dress could have been altered since one size does not fit all. I think they toss something out that is provocative and sit back and watch the reactions. How is it known she showed her cleavage at that event? No cameras were let in.

Perhaps they traded the fashion for meddling in-laws being shoved down their throat.
