Charles' priorities were messed up. He put Camilla first. And for some reason he just let Will and Harry do as they pleased and gave too much leeway to Will (who partied and clubbed throughout his twenties and beyond)

I don't blame Charles for William's laziness; William clearly isn't interested in working and isn't interested in anyone other than his own gratification. Most young men would get tired of the BS and want to settle into life beyond partying and just want to basically live life as they've chosen it or mapped out for themselves.

Will is lazy. But the Queen and Prince Charles should have required William to work even during the University years. He would only get the perks if he did the work. Will got to avoid the work, get fake jobs, and idle time away. But yes, after a while, it is all on William. He should have only gotten lavish vacations and parties if he earned them by working. he also married an enabler who dislikes work more than he does.

HM and Charles are both workhorses who took it for granted that they would spend their lives working for the monarchy and nation, so they just stepped into duties at an early age and this is the only life they knew, or care to know. Privileged and elitist, but at least they don't try to change their life and expect others to sacrifice for them. William instead took the view that his life was mapped out and decided to basically not take any pride on how he presented himself on the world stage. He threw his best years away and chose to mooch around and regrettably HM and Charles found it unfathomable that he would in fact not wish to do appearances.

^ And, IMHO, did precious little to correct him or bring him into line in any way that had discernible results when it would have been possible, as in his adolescence.

I find that aspect interesting. IN Saudi Arabia, King Salman executed a young prince from the newer generation, to set the example that no one was above the law. By law, I think it means both civil and tribal law. NO young royal in these countries DARES not do their part and I am surprised HM and Charles let William challenge them on a constant basis. It is in fact a challenge that William refuses to do his part and only very sullenly does appearances at court at HM's behest. For some reason, HM sits and lets William and Kate challenge her time and time again, letting them get away with it. Meanwhile Charles clearly has no idea how to handle his sons since he NEVER would have married anyone he bonked during his uni years and he never would have married an actress.

I don't blame Charles though; this is all on William and his choices, not Charles. William could have enjoyed having a life mapped out and could have done work for the Prince's Trust and easily met someone solid and decent and lived a great life. Instead he screwed it up because he bought the press hype that he knew better than his own Sovereign and easily thought he could play with fire (date and let Kate into his life more and more ) and not get burned. Stupid idiot. I don't blame Charles for William's selfish idiocy and his selfish determination to basically screw up his life beyond repair.

^ I don't blame Charles or HM or Diana. He's had plenty of space and time to grow and make more choices rooted in genuine service to the people. He has not chosen to do so, and one cannot blame their elders forever for their own shortcomings. In the end, we all have to own our shortcomings, our choices, and what we choose to do with whatever measure of potential we have. It is worthy of comment, imho, when someone in the public sphere has a great deal of potential and chooses to coast through life.

^ Oh, sure, it's easy to blame the dead. It absolves anyone of the need to reflect and take responsibility for their own actions, or assign responsibility properly for the actions of another to that person.

Prince Charles irks Australians with 'travelling yeoman' entourage as republican activists slam cost of him 'bringing butlers and valets' on visit earlier this year
Prince Charles has annoyed Australians by bringing along a 'travelling yeoman' as part of a 13-strong entourage during a trip in March and April this year, which led to a bill of more than £160,000.
However, royalists would note that the travelling yeoman fulfils the important role of ensuring 'the right clothes are in the right place at all times' - a must for a trip with numerous different engagements.
But critics were unconvinced, with Michael Cooney of the Australian Republic Movement saying the Australian government should be spending their money on supporting farmers suffering from drought.
'The Government should explain to drought stricken Dubbo farmers why we could afford to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars before Prince Charles had even arrived in Australia,' he told News.com.
'Prince Harry may carry his own bag but the next King of Australia has more staff than a VIP plane can carry.'
Despite claims of extravagance, Prince Charles and Camilla had actually shrunk the size of their entourage, which stood at 18 during an earlier visit in 2012.

Despite his fuddy duddy looks Charles spends money like water mostly on himself. Stephen Barry his valet from the seventies and early eighties noted Charles precious lifestyle Barry had to lay out Charles bath towel just so when Charles stepped out of the tub.I think he pays Fawcett megabucks also.

I read that Camilla does not come cheap. With much upkeep.

He may be the new Sun King.

I think Charles would soon burn the castle to the ground rather than let Strung Out Sewer Rat preside with his persona of aping Car Nicky or an Edwardian aristocrat with that ridiculous beard. It would be a job that would suit Carole's pretensions quite well, but since Charles hates the Midds, I wager he would be fierce in his refusal.

I think Charles has at long last dropped the facade of being neutral about using his position to embark on projects involving financial gain.

Charles pontificating gets annoying IMO. The huge photo of Charles posted during their visit is something he may want to have in the UK.
