The DM sometimes goes in for provocative headlines they know will attract lots and lots of comments. And they do this not just for the RF.

I did think it was quite tacky that Kate wore military inspired couture for Remembrance Sunday. It is not and should not be a fashion parade, and she has never served in the military.  bignono

Kate is tacky and doesn't know squat about how to behave.

Duchess Kate repeated a blue Eponine London dress, showed off her highlights

Quote
I forgot that this was happening! I swear, I do try to keep up with all of the upcoming royal functions, I just forget sometimes. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are spending the day in South Yorkshire (Rotherham) for a series of events, like opening up McLaren Automotive’s new Composites Technology Centre and making a visit to a local Centrepoint hostel (William has long been a Centrepoint patron). They’re due back in London this evening for the big blowout party for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday.

For today’s events, Kate repeated an Eponine London dress in her favorite shade of blue. She wore this for the first time in January 2017, when she made a trip to the Anna Freud Centre in London. I still like this (£1,650) dress – I love the tailoring around the waist, the length is good, and I don’t even mind the reverse pleats or the buttons!

Duchess Kate repeats a teal Emilia Wickstead for a ‘surprise’ visit to the BBC
Quote
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were out and about again today, which means that they scheduled several events for two days in a row. Yesterday, they were in South Yorkshire for most of the day, doing a series of mental health and business-related events. Today, they made a trip to the BBC in London to “mark Anti-Bullying Week by working to combat cyber-bullying,” according to WENN. This was a “surprise visit,” according to the Daily Mail. It’s true – this event was not announced in advance. William and Kate have been doing that with more frequency the past few years, they’ll do a “surprise” visit somewhere, and surprise, all of the royal photographers are there.

I still suspect Charles is cutting her out financially.

Despite the happy families photos, I don't think there is love lost between the Cambridges and Prince Charles.

^^I'm not so sure about that.  It feels more like an adjustment to the outcry over Sparkles' spending on those not the greatest looks.  Everything is political in this family so it could also be "see how sensible Kate is compared to reckless Markle?"

I get it that they all spend more than should be allowed but MM has carried it, with Harry's help, to an ugly extreme.  Kate's just probably doing what she's told and this is a good, conservative image to sell.

In their minds.  Allow that caveat.  We all know better but they think in an alternate universe.

I think deep down there isn't any love lost between Charles and Kate; Kate was never the DIL he wanted and I am certain that despite her conservative image and recent good PR, he LOATHES her for what she did in 2012 (usurped HM's Diamond Jubilee boat display with her nasty family and the topless nude scandal) and would gladly see the back of her. A huge show of royal favor is how well the women are dressed and Kate hasn't had couture or high end designer custom made stuff for years.

Meghan's fashion disaster last night had me reminiscing about some of Waity's formalwear fashion hits and misses.

A huge problem with Kate's misses is that she really does not make much of an effort; her skirt in Bhutan was more like a beach sarong than a skirt in a country/culture where female modesty is at a premium and she really didn't choose a skirt with substantial material and a long length. I do not believe she understands that pulling the sexy look does not make her daring, it makes her cheap and not someone to be respected. Same with that McQueen dress she wore in Malaysia. She can't seem to settle down on finding the right style that works for her and sticking with it.

^^  buflesse, thanks for posting these photos.

I don't agree with all your choices, I 99% agree with your choices. But I don't think Kate suits big bold print dresses as she has such a slender frame, now. They overpower her, I think. But I do prefer her in bold colours. Even the cream ones, oddly enough.

I still think Charles yanked the credit card access; when she had access during the first two years, she was buying all the designer gear she could and wearing it to the worst possible places. With that card she was buying up a storm (shopping spree when she was supposed to editing at the Huffington Post) and she was buying all sorts of jewelry. Now the dolt is reusing and I can only believe that Charles has yanked her living budget and I am certain she is more than unhappy about it. I do not view her as so worried about PR that she would dress down for any kind of event and hide her best possessions. Ever since she married William she has been determined to make sure that the entire planet knows she's made it and she even has "Duchess of Cambridge" put on those sports jackets that she wears to sporting events. Second, there was that time when Kate was mentioning "I want more money" at that church ceremony (William and Charles gave her death stares) and I believe Charles cut the budget straight after her second 'pregnancy' was through. It wasn't until after the children were 'born' that she started getting downgrades.

Ooh I must have missed that, what happened??

I wonder if she is partially rewearing that suit is to show how skinny she still is, that she can still fit into stuff like that after all the kids. I think it's inappropriate anyway - too short, and the bow in her hair looks so juvenile.

There are many astroturfers on the DM thread comments about that outfit who constantly repeat the word Classy and how she looks great in anything and how perfect she is. Positively nauseating.

The British public are not particularly bright at the best of times. There is a definite lack of critical thinking skills in the average DM reader.

Catwalk to KATEwalk! How the duchess gets top designers to tweak her outfits just for her - helping her avoid being too risqué
* Fan's claim, Kate Middleton's dresses are adapted from the catwalk to make them suitable for a future queen
* Edgy clothes that catch the eye on the catwalk rarely meet the exacting standards of the royal dress code
* Adapting dresses is something the Duchess of Cambridge has done since soon after her marriage to Prince William in 2011
The British Royal Family is said to abide by a very specific style guide which rules out inappropriately short skirts, day dresses that are too long, anything too flashy or flamboyant, slits that gape if you bend or sit down, and fabrics that crease.
As catwalk shows work almost a year ahead of production, Natasha will look through the season ahead, choosing styles/prints/patterns that are suitable, then discuss with Kate before designers are contacted.
Small changes, such as sewing up a plunging neckline like the adjustment to Kate’s Jenny Packham, are likely to be made by Natasha.
More fundamental changes to a design happen at the design house that made the piece.
It’s a collaborative effort, to ensure the design is preserved but royal modesty met and will cost more than buying ready-to-wear off-the-peg outfits.
