BREAKING NEWS: Queen asks Prince Charles to step in and lay her wreath at Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday

Prince Charles to take on Queen's role at Remembrance Sunday service this year
Will be the first time Her Majesty has been at the service but has not taken part
Palace gives no reason for change in protocol but Queen has been sharing duties
Follows speculation in August the monarch was set to abdicate by the age of 95

Liz & Phil will watch from the balcony.

I have thought for months that the Queen is rapidly declining.  Not only physically but perhaps mentally as well.   Or maybe she is becoming hard of hearing.  It just seems she has an unfocused look.

It just seems to be that as much of a stickler for duty as the Queen is, that if it were only a matter of the weight of the wreath, that she could still walk out but have Charles place the wreath on her behalf.

I don't think she's declining. She has been out and about and appears to be lucid and attentive to people she sees on appearances.

According to the DM journo on twitter the queen has doubts she can stand during all the ceremony and the walk backwards.

"For the first time, the Queen & Prince Philip will this year witness the Remembrance service from a Foreign & Commonwealth Office balcony."

"Very significant moment. She has only missed it 6 times - 4 times because she was on tour, and twice around the birth of Andrew & Edward."

"This is another sign of the royal family in transition and an acknowledgment of the fact the Queen is 91."

She handed over another duty to her son. She's still Queen and that has not changed.

She is over 90 - she is slowing down, folks.  sigh

On another note - I wonder if a few people will make this solemn event about getting some more attention to themselves?  easter-sly

Hopefully Kate has been told that it's inappropriate to laugh and talk maniacally as she has done in previous years.  Maybe another reason to use the alleged HG to drop out.

Kate may not show up. Of course the Queen is slowing down everybody is slowing down. But Charles is still not King and she's Queen now.

Send The Potato Head to The Tower. And then have her mysteriously disappear like the two little princes.
