And so it goes on

t least one Leave-voting constituency is said to be initiating the de-selection of its Remain-voting Tory MP. The Daily Telegraph’s letters editor reports a level of reader anger not seen since the 2009 expenses scandal broke. Party constituency associations across the country report massive grassroots unrest and a deluge of membership cancellations, accompanied by vows never to vote Conservative again, at least while May remains leader, and physically destroyed membership cards.

The polling numbers are horrendous for the Tories, and even worse for May personally. A large majority think May’s non-Brexit Brexit deal is both bad for Britain and doesn’t respect the Referendum result. A huge 75 per cent think May’s government is handling Brexit badly and 43 per cent think May should go, now. Labour is back in a 2 per cent poll lead. Were it led by a pro-proper-Brexit centre-Left moderate, instead of a 1970s-throwback hard-Left socialist, I suspect its lead would be into double digits.

What irony: May, desperate to dilute Brexit to near-invisibility to appease her Remainer-dominated MPs and Parliament, in part at least from fear of ushering in a Corbyn government, is thereby making a Corbyn government more likely. Truly, she is a Midas in reverse, rapidly morphing into a political Miss Havisham.

I never trusted May from the day she was announced as the new PM.  There is a photo of her holding a placard saying she was a remainer.  She is too weak, and she made a big mistake having that quick election, weakened her position big time.  Sadly, at the rate she is going, it will be a Corbyn government before too long.  Nice one may, she and cameroon will not go down in history well. I never believed she would do the right thing with the Brexit pull out  -  but where has it go her, nowhere basically other than losing the respect of the Brexit tories and the British public.  She has not carried out what was voted for by the Brexiteers, far from it.  I always remember her words  -  Brexit is Brexit, and that is what will be carried out.  Yeah, right, just another lie to add to her list.  God help us when we get Corbyn is all I can say, Britain will go down the pan even further, many will jump ship I am sure.

Interesting comment in the DT and other publications to keep Boris out and Remainers in.

‘Javid brought up in the Mohammedan faith, in adulthood has declared himself to be non-observant, yet, when swearing his oath in Parliament, despite having secular options open to him, chose to swear upon a copy of the Qu'ran. (These are facts upon the public record and recorded by television in Parliament.)’

‘This man is the danger, not Boris, and it's more alarming that Javid is Home Secretary, oversees MI5 and is given confidential briefings on terrorism.  Javid is the wolf in sheep's clothing and God help the UK if he ever becomes PM because the Caliphate will become a reality.’

I wouldn't trust Javid as far as I could throw him.  And it's very worrying that he's being mentioned as a future PM; he'll rediscover his faith if he ever gets to that role and the ramifications for the UK would be awful.

The DM aren’t printing any comments relating to this.  So much for freedom of speech.  They have been reported many times for doing this.

The MoS is hand-in-hand with May and is seeking to destroy any opposition to the Wraith of Downing Street.

I do NOT understand WHY Brexit i being treated like some major drama; the UK population has voted and chosen to leave, that shouldn't be a huge issue for the BRF or for the Tories in general.

I really truly wish we could put a stop to this anti-discrimination BS; if he doesn't want to follow the traditions, he should stay out of secular government.

^I don't understand, either.  The people voted, it was passed, what's the holdup?  But, then, I am admittedly more ignorant than I should be about the parliamentary process.

Separation of church and state, KF, is what is required here.  Is that in the British Constitution?  I am not really bothered with what someone takes an oath on.  It could be a coloring book for all I care.  However, without clear hands-off on putting articles or bills forward that are designed to protect a certain faith above others, then I get out my pitchfork.  Or, special treatment of any race or creed or religion.  Has no business in government.

Having said all of that lofty stuff, the Truth is, politicians are driven to be partisan and loyal to their "people", not their constituents, exclusively, which is the law.  So, it's worthwhile to keep many eyes open.

I do think that having the monarch be head of the church is blasphemous; like the monarch playing God, deciding what is or isn't a real marriage or God's will (like one generation where divorce is forbidden like Princess Margaret's years and now divorcees can marry in at the top levels) and interpret scripture on whim. It is clear that church is just a joke to the reigning royals and I am certain that with all their reliance on astrologers, clearly God isn't their main priority or focus.

The Windsors are treated their people like infantilized children, not as adults with the right to decide the direction of their country. This also (as we know) violates the rules that they are not supposed to interfere in politics or the political process.

The delay in Brexit is purely because May and many MP’s, big businesses etc etc are staunch
Remainers.   Despite the country voting to leave the above are doing their utmost to avoid this because it wasn’t in their own interests to do so.

I sometimes wonder if the Tories and Windsors had the thought that maybe they would be able to somehow revive the old empire through the EU. I do believe that they might have thought of the EU as a Suzerein part of the Commonwealth and the Windsors have certainly treated France as their playground many times. It could be why they're panicked at the thought of the UK breaking away from the EU. Dreams of empire and it's all going away.

^^^ Elizabeth II is Governor of the Church of England, a ceremonial role, as it has been for her predecessors for at least three centuries. Henry VIII's time was a very long time ago! She plays no role whatsoever in setting Church policy or rules of Anglican marriage.

Where has it ever been written that members of the current BRF rely on astrologers? With the exception of Fergie and Diana years ago I can't think of any. Her religious faith is certainly no joke to the Queen. It's important to her. She attends Church services every Sunday. Philip and Charles are also regular churchgoers. All the other members have been baptised and confirmed.

Yes every possible stall tactic has been employed, uneccessary negotiations carried out, kow towing to Europe etc etc.  Margaret Thatcher would have gone immediately and not deceived the public like May with her ‘Trust me’ nonsense.  The bottom line is that she is a staunch Remainer herself and doesn’t want to leave.
