One kiss or two? Charles and Camilla don't know where to turn as they greet Queen Letizia and King Felipe as Britain rolls out the red carpet for the Spanish royals' first state visit to the UK

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain arrived in London last night for a three-day state visit
Today they were greeted by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh in a ceremony on Horse Guards Parade
The visit is seen as an important step in securing relations with Spain as the UK leaves the EU
The last incoming state visit by a Spanish king - Felipe's father King Juan Carlos - was 31 years ago
It is expected to be 96-year-old Philip's last state visit before he retires from public duties this autumn
Spanish royals have been formally greeted by Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on Horse Guards Parade
King Felipe, 49, is expected to raise the thorny issue of Gibraltar during his stay in London this week

I apologize for double posting, please merge!

Kate will absolutely pale in comparison! Will be interesting to see.

Felipe's tie matches Liz's outfit, and Liz's yellow flowers match Letizia's yellow hat/ outfit. Letizia looks splendid as always.

A private lunch was held at BP, Charles and Camilla, Edward and Sophie, William, Andrew and the Gloucesters were there. Only Kate was missing.

Then F&L visited C&C at Clarence House

Dress was Burbery https://twitter.com/nuriatiburcio/status/885160287963402241

When Letizia drove past people earlier, they yelled "la reina", seems like those who came out to see them are pretty excited about the visit.

It is said that Felipe got the garter.

Spain's King Felipe risks the wrath of Tory MPs as he hints at pushing for a NEW deal on Gibraltar in historic speech to Parliament

The King of Spain is speaking in Parliament's Royal Gallery as part of a state visit
Conservative MPs are braced for him to intervene on the row over Gibraltar
If the King mentions the Rock Tory MPs could walk out of the speech in protest

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4688900/Tory-MPs-WALKOUT-King-Spain-Gibraltar.html

He got a standing ovation in spite of the Gibraltar issue.

I find it odd that Doolittle skipped the private lunch. Maybe the lazy three got ordered to attend the banquet, but left Waity home so the embarrassment would be lessened. Maybe she couldn't come, too much work for one day, has to get her extensions and wiglets in place and wear the (lover's knot) tiara all day at home and psych herself up, because no doubt Letizia will overshadow her so bad, Waity will look like she stumbled accidentally in expecting a fancy dress party.

Too close for comfort! Prince Charles enjoys a VERY intimate greeting with Queen Letizia as he welcomes the Spanish royals to Clarence House just hours after the couple's kissing mishap

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain arrived in London last night for a three-day state visit
Prince Charles got very close to the Queen of Spain as he welcomed her to afternoon tea
It came after the Prince of Wales had an awkward greeting with the royals this morning

'I thought Prince Philip was tall but he's a midget compared to Felipe!' Royal watchers spot Spain's 6ft 4' king TOWERING over the Queen (who's 5ft 3') as monarchs meet for state visit

King Felipe VI looked every inch of his 6ft 4' frame as he met the queen today
The Spanish king had to bend and stoop to greet Her Majesty, who's just 5ft 3'
Even 6ft Prince Philip looked shorter in the company of the lofty Spaniard
The king and his wife Letizia enjoyed a royal welcome at Horse Guards Parade

Phillip's swan song: The Duke of Edinburgh puts on the charm with Queen Letizia in his final ceremonial engagement ahead of his retirement

The Duke of Edinburgh joined the Queen to welcome King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia on their UK state visit
Today marks one of the Duke's final engagements before he steps down from royal duties in autumn this year
Prince Phillip accompanied Queen Letizia in the State Landau - the carriage which was built for the Coronation of King Edward VII in 1902 as they made their way to Buckingham Palace

Spain’s Queen Letizia wore an awful yellow ensemble for the British state visit

I dunno what my view of it should be.

Charles has a wrinkled suit (what gives there?) and Camilla shows up in a huge feathered hat which is unattractive. Don't they have people advising them on what to wear. Charles looks like he pulled the suit out of a laundry bag.

^^ It's a Felipe Varela design, she wears him a lot.
I like the whole thing, the hem is a bit fussy but I still like it. The colour suits her and she carries it well. It is sth you can see Kate in, but Kate carries herself so differently, that that's the main reason why outfits look dreadful on Kate - no grace, elegance, dignity or posture. Letizia has all that in buckloads so gets away with many a thing, incl this outfit. And it fits perfectly, sth Kate can't get right either - always some hatchet job on outfits or wearing them a size too small.. Kate's "fashion sense" isn't that bad in reality (though there are some dead ugly things in her wardrobe), it's more her posture & behaviour that regularly ruins each piece she's seen in.
It's also possible that Letizia chose this design because it's sth that the Windsor women wear, a style all of them are seen in from time to time.
She also wore that Burberry coat dress as nod to Britain.

^ easter-lol Chuck also wears suits that have holes in them haha

PS I wonder at what time the banquet starts, it will be a pretty late dinner....

"Duchess of Cambridge is wearing Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara for the third time this evening teamed with a necklace borrowed from The Queen"
https://twitter.com/QueenVicMirror/status/885215703162384384

The necklace comes from the Greville bequest, it was a wedding gift to the Queen from her parents. It hasn't been worn since the 1980s.

She looks smug as fck. Didn't I say she was wearing that thing all day at home so couldn't attend lunch?
The pics look mightily photoshopped.

Kate wearing Diana's earrings (they are Diana's Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings), no wonder she looks smug as fck.  ick ick

Earrings & tiara fit together, the necklace not at all though.
But the way Kate looks in the car, it could have been the last event she wore the lover's knot to, she always looks the same, at this point I'm going to call this a special talent of hers...

Now she has Di's ring & earrings, right? I don't count the taiar b/c that's Liz's.

Unless the necklace was changed I do not think it will suit her.

Both Kate and Letizia look awful for diffefent reasons. One looks amish the other like she was going to a celebrity party.

Camz in white again. Boring and it does not look good on her.

easter-lol "amish" haha
I thought Kate looks like she stepped out of the French revolution, foreshadowing? muahahaha but I only saw her briefly, so that's just a first short impression.

She's dazzling! The Duchess of Cambridge stuns in Princess Diana's beloved diamond and pearl tiara as she arrives at glittering state banquet held in honour of Queen Letizia and King Felipe's first official visit to the UK

Guests at the Spanish state banquet dined on medallion of Scottish beef and truffles in a Madeira sauce

It was Prince Harry's first as he moves into a more full-time royal position

PS Kate's racoon eyes and heavy makeup and shooting daggers.. I just cannot!

PPS Felipe wearing the sash and brooch (or what it's called) of the order of the garter, so he's indeed joined.

He thank the queen for the garter but as he spoke nearly all in spanish... btw what a bad orator he is and with nearly all the guests being british must have been quite bored.

Letizia as always did not even made the effort to make it as if she drunk a bit from her cup. It is so easy and it makes it look so much better even if you do not drink at all.

Harry looked so bored the two times they showed him.

Kate had too much going on. The fussy dress the big necklace then big earrings plus a big tiara. She should have dropped the earrings and wear a more minimalist dress. The necklace did not need much more.

Kate'd rather die than give up any of the jewels she was allowed to wear to this occasion. I guess it's the only way they could coax her out of bed.

I was surprised that he held the speech in Spanish too as his English is really good (as seen during the parliament speech), but I think that foreign dignitaries generally hold that particular speech in their native tongue (I'm guessing here), the others have a translation in front of them which is why they look down all the time.

It would have been more polite to at least take a sip, but maybe after all these years she's over that bit? Don't know, I mean Charles takes his toilet seat everywhere and his own food to be cooked when he's over for lunch or dinner at people's homes, so Letizia's not drinking is a bit more understandable  tehe

Kate had too much going on indeed (just the trowelled on makeup is too much, never mind the rest) and I don't know why the press photoshops the living daylight out of her in those car pics (always the car pics of the tiara events she's attended, 95% of them have been photoshopped beyond recognition)

The marchioness is super pretty and has lots of charisma. She always gets lot of attention when she appears.

Felipe should have better english. Supposedly he talked with her mother in english and he spent years both in Canada and in the US studying.

Seems like Isabella from the Kents also went to the dinner I would have liked to see her.

Now I think about it it is fun that the queen chose aquamarines, Queen Victoria Eugenia really liked them. She asked for them as a present after seeing them in russian royals. But she thought they were too expensive and would not happen. In reality they were 'cheap'. Her aquamarines were inherited by one of her daughters.
