This is really going to hit the Queen hard.  All the people of her younger days are leaving her.   She was very fond of Tony, to the chagrin of her sister Margaret, after the divorce.

I understand she decided to marry Anthony Armstrong Jones when she heard her ex Peter Townsend was getting married.

^Sandy, I had read that also. Did Princess Margaret contemplate that if she did not marry soon, she might not marry at all?

She was too, but the difference is, that without Margaret, he would have been nothing more than the fringe (barely there) member of a privileged gentleman's club. Without her, he would never have become an Earl and he never would have had the opportunities that he had or the career he enjoyed.

Margaret declined to marry Townsend, it would mean giving up her status and perks.  She married Tony due to pique.  Both of them were unfaithful.  He liked both sexes.  Margaret was a brat, and abused Tony, not the other way around.  She would get drunk and be very abusive, and not just to him.  The Queen is at an age where losing friends is part of life.   The Queen did not see much of Tony in the last few years, very rarely actually  His boy David has all of his father's bad habits.

Some royal residences are quite familiar but this one is not know to me. (I know the Yorks live their).

It does look lovely and I do love their landscaped gardens.

Thanks for posting

Little light, The Royal Lodge is in Windsor Great Park in Berkshire, England. It was the residence of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother from 1952 until 2002. Since 2004 Royal Lodge has been the official residence of Prince Andrew.
