^Thanks @ HRH.  Glad to hear I didn't overstep.  OMG I would so love to be on a yacht in Greece right now.  I have to say, though, I have wondered what it's like there now given the onslaught of refugees; both in the water trying to cross and on land.

Diana's ex-butler Paul Burrell says Kate will NEVER measure up to his old boss because she doesn't have Di's 'magic quality'
Quote
He said: 'I met Mother Teresa, she had it, Pope John Paul II had it, the Queen has it, Diana certainly had it, Kate doesn't.
'She's a lovely, lovely girl and if you get to meet Kate you will know she totally adores her husband and they're devoted to each other, but that extra something which you call the X factor, the magic quality, charisma...it's not there. '

Of course she's devoted to Wills. She stalked him and was his f buddy/mattress-on-call for over 10 years to get the position she has now. I couldn't agree more that she doesn't have charisma. She come off like those weird plastic sex robots that's been in the news lately.  eating cookies thumbsup  Carryon and tell it like it is Paul!!!

he's right and the more the media try to make it like kate has the "IT" factor the more they shine the light on how dull she is.

I'm not a great fan of Paul Burrell's, but Diana had a sort of radiance about her that's hard to describe unless you've experienced it. I think what he was trying to say was she had charisma by the bucket load without manufacturing any of  it and Kate is like a piece of wood in comparison. I saw Diana several times and Kate once, in Sydney. I felt nothing when I saw Kate.

This is probably the only time I agree with the idiot. Waity will never be remotely like Diana.

Well, Kate certainly wasn't the first 'commoner' to marry an heir to the English/British throne, or King. Elizabeth Woodville, who married Edward IV was the first there, if we count from the Norman Conquest. Plus Anne Neville, who married Edward Prince of Wales, and after he was killed, Richard III. Then there was Ann Hyde who married the future King James II, not to mention four of Henry VIII's wives. Also, although she was an Earl's daughter, Elizabeth Bowes Lyon was technically a commoner when she married her Prince. So they've sure got their facts wrong there!

As was a certain Lady Diana Spencer.

So many people don't understand the three levels of 'society' in Britain and think anyone with a title can't be a commoner when the majority of those with titles are also commoners e.g. Kate is still a commoner as she isn't a peeress in her own right. William was the one who made the social class jump in many ways on his wedding day - he went from commoner to a peer of the realm while Kate went from non-royal commoner to royal commoner but still a commoner.

Most of this list I disagree with. But I do definitely agree with one of them. Carole M is power hungry.

Yup, they got that one right.

Catherine was the oldest royal bride at 29. Who was the next lady to be an older bride?

I don't know why you are saying Kate was the oldest royal bridge at 29.

I can think of a few within the current royal family who were older e.g. both Sophie and Camilla were older than Kate when they married as was Anne when she married the second time.

Sophie was born in 1965 and married in 1999
Camilla was born in 1947 and married the heir to the throne on 2005
Margaret was born in 1930 and married in 1960 - so the same age as Kate
Anne was born in 1950 and her second marriage was in 1992

The late Duchess of Gloucester - born in 1901 and married in 1935 so she was 34

I don't think she's older than she claims to be. She just aged a lot these past 10 years due to her lifestyle.

Mary (Bloody Mary) Tudor was 37 when she married and there were other royal brides in fact were sometimes older than others. Anne Boleyn was in her twenties when she was married and then beheaded. Not two sterling examples, but certainly notable. Kate stands out because like Anne Boleyn, she had to mount a literal campaign to get the ring and made numerous enemies. Going from untitled to consort was a huge leap.
