Wave goodbye to the rain! The deluge FINALLY stops as the Queen arrives at Ascot with Philip and Harry after thousands of soaked racegoers faced torrential downpours

The Queen was in high spirits this afternoon as she arrived for the first day of Royal Ascot. Her Majesty gave the crowds a thumbs up alongside her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, as the torrential rain that soaked the racecourse finally came to an end.

The sun made a brief appearance in time for the Royal party as they made the traditional procession up Ascot's Straight Mile towards the finishing post.

The Queen - dressed in a bright canary yellow ensemble - waved as the waiting crowds cheered and the Band of the Irish Guards struck up the national anthem.

Kate ups the style stakes! The Duchess of Cambridge joins the glamorous ladies of Royal Ascot for the first time - stealing the spotlight in a white lace D&G dress

It's her first ever visit to Royal Ascot, where racegoers have been putting on a glamorous display in elaborate hats and colourful dresses all morning.

And while the Duchess of Cambridge, 34, may have opted for the more understated look in a white lace dress, she certainly didn't disappoint in the style stakes.

She teamed the dress, believed to be from Dolce and Gabbana, with a woven gold fascinator, decorated with a cream rose and two feathers.

And pinned to her dress was a helpful name tag, reading: 'HRH The Duchess of Cambridge'.

Dress would look better on someone with curves. She's positively swimming in it.

If Waity wore something like this at least she would be more true to herself

As it is I think she is trying to emulate Eliza "DoLittle"

If you look closely enough, not that anyone wants to ick , I'm fairly certain you can see the outline of her white underwear against AND in between her legs like she's wearing a bikini, more see-through lace maxi coverup than dress. Outline of her white bra perfectly visible too.

True. Old news by now.  laundry Rewashed laundry.

thumbsup To the name of this thread. Makes me think of two things, some corny movie about two country bumkins trying to get by in high-society or the name of a sleazy smut movie and Ascot stands for something else.  laugh

^Gorgeous and stunning.  Perfection.

Kate?  Go hang that dress in a Victorian bedroom window somewhere.  What is she doing with that ruffle at the bottom?  Oh, why oh why do I ask?  The hat's nice, tho.  I'll give her that.

a) OMG that dress is tacky. It manages to simultaneously look dowdy (like your gran's net curtains) and overly bohemian and tarty.

b) The white against a cream hat and pink shoes is also baffling. She really doesn't understand colour schemes.

c) Over £3000, and not by a British designer.  bignono

d) Panda eyes http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/06/15/14/354F553E00000578-3642602-image-a-56_1465999031798.jpg

e) Notice how she is being kept well away from Princess Mary...
