^ These are indeed nice photos. The Wessexes seem to enjoy being together as a family and that is lovely, but I have to say that I think that young Louise needs a bit of a makeover in the hair and clothing department. She is, what, eleven, twelve, and still wearing strap shoes, tights and a (dark blue) coat with a velvet collar! Her pinafore outfit isn't doing too much for her either, and I wish Sophie would treat her daughter to a hairdressing appointment to control the frizz and unflattering middle part. Louise seems a lovely girl but doesn't dress for her age at all, IMHO.

Did anyone else notice that inside Lady Louise's coat, in the first photo, there is the spare button for the coat still in its plastic bag, pinned onto the inside of her coat?

Did nanny, or whoever, not notice it and remove it first?

A bit like an own goal to me.

And Sophie really needs to dress Louise for her age as she is now, not when she was just starting school.

I do not think Sophie is forcing her daughter to dress younger, it is Louise's preference. At 12, I expect Louise has the most say in how she dresses which I think it is modest not too young. Why force a 12 year old into sheer stockings, which are too mature for that age IMO. The mary jane's may be support shoes too and not a fashion statement.

Sophie probably had to pry her out of her favorite pink coat, but Louise held on to it for dear life even after the sleeves were too short.  Given the way many 12 year olds dress, I'm happy to see Louise dressing like this instead of being 12-dressing-like-25.

Somehow, I don't believe that 12-year-old girls insist on being dressed like a geek.   Either they insist on being dressed stylishly or they just do not care and their mothers or nannies dress them.   Louise simply is Edward's twin.  Unfortunately, there is no bigger dork than Edward.  Hopefully, as she ages, she will lose her father's geekiness and become the beauty she is capable of being.   But the majority of beauty comes from within.   For instance, Margarita Armstrong-Jones who is only a year and a half older than Louise wears similar clothes but somehow they look different on her, simply because she has more charisma than Louise at this point.    Louise has been held back because of her eye condition, and as that is corrected, then so should her self confidence.

Here's a photo of Louise and Margarita side-by-side:

http://cache1.asset-cache.net/gc/113241561-bridesmaids-lady-louise-windsor-and-gettyimages.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=lGnjDs01aeQKqjld9R%2FRaXQz%2BXtV%2B1UyjnWYj4VVwjY9fLNCm6Abcpf9%2BSLEbK3b6KLi9N6hldzuLRqk4c7j3Q%3D%3D

Even though Louise is wearing a bright color for once, the skirt of the dress engulfs her, her shoes are too clunky, etc.   Margarita is wearing white tights, but flats with no big ankle strap across, which helps, and her dress, while being a gray plaid, fits her and she wears it instead of vice versa.  Margarita seems to be more outgoing and engaging, which makes those around her see her rather than her clothes.  With Louise, because she is so retiring, everyone's eye is drawn to those big clunky shoes and too large or too small clothes and frizzy, out-of-control hair.   Note that the coat sleeves she is wearing in this recent photo at Ascot are too short!    Really?  Mother Sophie is prancing in Prada and once again her daughter's coat sleeves are above her wrists.

I used to work with teens and tweens. I know first hand how opinionated and stubborn they can be. IMO Louise is a thinking human being who, under her own agency at 12, knows what she likes and dresses accordingly. From photos over the last year or two, she's sprouting up like crazy, so sleeves being too short on a coat doesn't surprise me.

^Some of us used to be tweens and teens and have raised tweens and teens, and it is not normal for a girl to wish to wear clothes that don't fit or are (horrors!) too babyish.   It is not unusual for a girl to be uninterested in fashion, but usually there is a parent to step in and say, "Here is what you are wearing to Westerminster Abbey today".   Especially such a fashion-minded mama as Sophie.

Louise seemed very happy to be wearing a lovely, custom-fit dress when she was a bridesmaid.   No heavy thick white tights.  No clunky black Mary Janes.  The skirt fit just right, as did the bodice.  Her hair had been combed.  And she seems very happy and not at all unhappy or throwing a tantrum because of being "forced" to wear a lovely dress.   And interesting that this is how she can look when a wedding coordinator dresses her as opposed to her mama.    bored3

I really do hope that Sophie is reading all the comments of readers in the DM as well as royal message boards and will dress her 12-year-old daughter appropriately on Christmas Day.

I think saying that it isn't "normal" for a girl to choose to dress a certain way is sexist. Every girl is an individual, not created with a cookie cutter.

She looks dressed just fine to me

One of the most recent dresses we saw Louise in was off-the-rack designer (Prada, dior, whatever that floral one was). She is obviously allowed access to money for clothing, Sophie doesn't keep her in the basement with a clothing allowance of 0. I suspect that however Louise is dressed at Christmas, it is 12 year old Louise who makes the final call.

Louise is a private citizen. Her parents are not required to take direction from DM commenters or people on royal discussion boards on how to dress or raise their child. They took their time getting her eye surgery, because they didn't want to rush it and have disastrous results. No matter what people on online discussion boards have to say about it, E&S (let's not forget she has a father too) are the ones raising their private citizen children - not the hypercritical public.

^ and ^^.  As much as we all encourage animated interchange, this is turning into a personal argument between two posters.  Cool it or I'll help you take a little break.  Thank you.  YM

I noticed in the family photos at Ascot and in this photo that Sophie's eyebrows have started to tilt up.  Is she turning into a Vulcan or is it botox?    eating cookies

I never knew that was Lady Louise. I didn't realise she was so tall when standing next to the CofW. But standing next to Mike Tindall, well that did surprise me in a lovely way. Lucky her.   flower (I still wish I was taller).

Louise is sprouting up, isn't she?  Almost as tall as her mom, but Sophie is what 5'4", so she'll probably be as tall as her mother soon.

We would all looking amazingly young for our ages if our photos were shopped as much as Sophie's are!   lols

Here are a few untouched photos.  She did start using some botox in her forehead last year, based on the fact that her deep forehead wrinkles disappeared.  She's at the point now where she's going to have to go whole-hog and get a facelift, or accept her age.  That seems to be difficult for Sophie.  She should counsel with Princess Michael.   eating cookies

The Pouchy Faced Potato Head at her reputed age looks a lot older than Sophie at 51. And The Potato Head has had and continues to have a ton of plastic surgery. God only knows how ancient she would look without it. PC must be paying for all of it as we know Baldie Billy Medd is too cheap to pay for anything. Isn't it comforting to know that the tax payers of the UK are financing Middleton plastic surgery?

I think she looks good for her age, way better than hubbie. But her skin won't age well.
