^Yes lovely couple, and the baby is such a cutie.  Thumbs up from me every time.  The british rf could do with taking a leaf out of the books for the European royals.

The only thing separating Kate and Sofia is the fact that Kate got a posh degree. Nothing else. As for Sofia, she strikes me as a good sort despite her past. It IS possible for women like Sofia to actually be nice people; tarts, but nice nonetheless.

monarchy sells a hiatoric image and it needs it to survive for this reason Sofia is a wrong choice. Also people cannot choose their their representants so the less the royals could do is choose someone who has the right qualitites. And this is the reason most if not all princesses are wrong for their role in this generation.

Sofia is a bad partner to an already bad prince. Maybe there will not be a lot of controversies in their life but they already have hurt the monarchy image.

It's about time monarchies stopped the PR game and started to actually accomplish things. Actual accomplishment.

Quote
I haven't seen Kate naked or with a snake between her nude legs. Because x princess is not appropriate for her role does not mean x is.
I defend the right of having a republican head of state that is a porn model or whatever. I am feminist and I do mot think that being a sex worker means they are worse than me or inferior. Everyone has the right to do with their body whatever they want.

I am sure Kate's done worse behind closed doors to keep a prince. Certainly she couldn't keep him with brains or personality or status.

There is nothing nice about Sofia Hellqvist.  She is not a nice person.   She did not make "mistakes".   She said herself in her engagement interview that she did not regret any of her past actions.    She bulldozed her way into a royal family.  Only the king and the prince like her.  The aunts, the mother-in-law and the sisters-in-law do not. It seems that the Swedish businesses and people do not, based upon their lack of enthusiasm about granting the greasy couple patronages.  The king is ruining the monarchy with his attempts to "make up" to his son the fact that he was "cheated" out of the monarchy and Victoria became heir.  His actions, more than likely, were a factor in Victoria's anorexia.   Sofia immediately got pregnant to try to one-up Victoria with the "next heir" but thank goodness Victoria was blessed with another pregnancy and spiked Sofia's guns.    Well, it will be amusing to watch the circus and watch Sofia get whiplash trying to keep up with the cameras.   Sofia is a tough cookie and is fighting to gain some spotlight, but all she had going for her was youth; she is not a beauty and her body isn't that great.  So, she will last until CP loses interest.   He does not appear to have a long attention span.    bored3

^Yes, they do adore him don´t they.  The loving looks they both give him, the gentle way they hold him, they dote on him, a truly happy family.  That is the way it should be, their own happy little family.  I love seeing their photos, and they are so proud of him.  He is an adorable, handsome littel chap too, with such a smiley face, interested in the world around him. They don´t mind him being photographed either, and do not hide him away.

They have no reason to hide him away. He is their natural son and she was truly pregnant.

Not just that, but the pre-nup also stipulates that she would get nothing unless she had a child. So the child is her insurance to get a nice pay-out should the marriage crumble.

^ Ah, I didn't know that, HRHolya.   Although I suspected.  Sofia definitely is not the maternal type and doesn't even know how to hold her own baby.  Too busy looking for the camera.   Well, someone bought her the house in SA before the marriage and now she popped out a kid to be used in case, as you say, the marriage crumbles.  And crumble it will.

Prince charming! Swedish royals gather to see cherubic Alexander christened in a traditional ceremony organised by proud parents Sofia and Carl Philip

Swedish royals, politicians and glamorous guests arrived in their droves to celebrate the christening of Prince Alexander in a ceremony steeped in tradition on Friday morning.

Guests gathered at Drottningholm Palace Church where Prince Alexander, wearing the same christening gown worn by Prince Gustaf Adolf in 1906, arrived carried by his glamorous mother, Princess Sofia, and his father, Carl Philip.

Resplendent in a white lace custom made Ida Sjöstedt suit, pearl headband and cream satin heels, Princess Sofia, 31, beamed as she watched her firstborn christened by Archbishop Antje Jackelen, flanked by her dapper husband, 37-year-old Prince Carl Philip.

^ Nice and happy family. An open family, no hiding, people can see the photos about the ceremony and not just for PR. That's why they are so popular.  flower

^^I do enjoy watching this family.  There are undoubtedly family conflicts and dynamics at play but I never get the feeling that I'm being 'played' by them.  And it's always a treat to see Estelle.  My gosh how she's grown and what an adorable dress to match Mom but without being too cutesy about it.  All in all, the whole SRF seem quite open and accessible and that's appreciated.

Some beautiul photos of the christening

http://princessmonarchy.eklablog.com/bapteme-du-prince-alexander-erik-hubertus-bertil-de-suede-a126889984

There is nothing nice about Sofia Hellqvist.  She is not a nice person.   She did not make "mistakes".   She said herself in her engagement interview that she did not regret any of her past actions.

Just the way many feel about council cath middleton.  Nothing nice about her at all, not a nice person in any respect.  She has made many mistakes, far more than Sofia, including her yachting day shenanigans, Killing Kittens visits, sleeping her way various males to work her way through to bill medd, flashing all her intimate body parts, used as dart boards in many a garage workshop the world over, holidaying with fester, who has been photographed cutting drugs for use.   She never "owns" them though, or says she does not regret them  -  we must assume from that she does not give a fig, and will carry on in her own vulgar way.  At least Sofia has the grace to admit to what she did in her past, and if she did not regret her past then that is her choice to make. Council cath can see nothing wrong in what she does/did. Sofia is moving forward, council cath makes no effort to try and move forward, sees no wrong in what she does and continues in the same vulgar lowlife way she has always has.  The only thing council cath has to her credit is that she has dragged the British rf down to her gutter level.  She is no sweet innocent with a "virginal" past, she operates more on the lines of the way her sister has done on the circuit.

Sofia and Carl obviously love one another and their son.  Will that last, who knows.  Marriages can break up at any time, including royal ones.  If their marriage fails then they are not the only royal couple for that to ever happen to.  Cue bill medd and council cath.  Stone cold body language, fake smiles, they give the impression they can´t stand the sight of one another.   If they were an everyday ordinary couple he would have ditched her several years ago, if he even married her in the first place.  He does not even give her a loving glance now and again.

I am pleased for Sofia at the turn out for the christening today.  How many roylas were at the christenings of the two sprogs.   Speaks volumes in itself.

If Sofia is deemed as trailer trash, then IMO council cath is trailer trash twice over compared with Sofia.

^Agree Yooper, and to be fair most every day families have the "conflicts".  Oh for a perfect world.  This family appear to be, as you say, close, open and accessible.  They make the British rf look positively anitquated in every way.

Why is Cath Middleton being discussed in a Sofia of Sweden thread?  Just curious?

^But what trials? She chose her life as she could have chosen to be a bartender, nurse, teacher....

I wasn't able to watch the christening (cannot they do them in weekends seriously) but it was more or less what I expected.

Sofia's outfit was a disaster. It looked even worse because Victoria was dress in a very similar way but her dress was a Saab and the difference in quality showed. But even then it didn't look good on her body. And obviously she wore white. I don't if she has a freudian obsession with white or what but it doesn't even look good on her.

Victoria's outfit and Madde's were so so. They didn't look bad but they've looked better. Estelle looked super cute but I prefer how Madeleine dresses her daughter.
