Wow, that's impressive to get an Oval Office visit. Nice job Harry and his team!  thumbsup

I have a feeling that since these games are going to be right in the middle of our presidential campaign, a lot of politicians will be there. We should have both the nominees by then (at least I hope..., these things drag on far too long already)

Welcome home! A tearful hug from Prince Harry to the female Afghan veteran who gave him her last dog tag to remember friend killed by the Taliban as wounded survivors complete epic 1,000-mile walk

Emotional Prince Harry hugged an injured female Afghanistan veteran as she gave him a dog tag in memory of a 21-year-old colleague killed in a Taliban blast.
Kirstie Ennis, 24, sobbed as she gave the fifth in line to the throne the deeply personal memento of her late friend today, prompting the prince, who himself served on the frontline twice over, to comfort her.
The pair embraced on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace, oblivious to media surrounding them, as Harry told her: ‘This means so much to me.’
Harry was at his grandmother’s official London residence in his role as Patron of the Walk of Britain to greet six inspirational ex-servicemen and women, all with severe physical and psychological injuries, who have walked 1,000 miles across the length and breadth of Britain for the charity Walking With The Wounded (WWTW).

Not sure if this is already out there (if so, Fly, let me know)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-3302770/EPHRAIM-HARDCASTLE-Prince-Harry-Queen-s-place-appear-Royal-Variety-Performance.html

Quote
Since George V’s reign, monarchs and heirs to the throne have been condemned to wear false smiles and laugh obligingly in the royal box during the annual Royal Variety Performance.

The Queen has alternated this chore with Prince Charles. Last year the job went to William and Kate – only the second time in 63 years that neither HMQ, the QM nor Charles have attended.

Now the baton is passed to Prince Harry for 2015’s RVP at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 13 November.

Will performers take advantage of his relaxed demeanour by introducing new levels of vulgarity? Host Jack Whitehall says: ‘I look forward to the opportunity of sailing a little too close to the wind in the presence of Prince Harry this time round.’

Harry has also now been granted the right to place his own wreath at the Cenotaph - they are really pushing him to the forefront

Prince Harry will become full-time royal when he does the honours on Remembrance Sunday

Prince Harry, 31, who appeared with his grandfather, Prince Philip, at a Field of Remembrance wreath-laying ceremony in Westminster yesterday, will do the honours at the Cenotaph on Sunday morning – in his own right instead of representing his father. It will be the first time a member of the Royal Family who is not a royal colonel, or a child of the sovereign, has been accorded the honour and marks Harry’s transition into a full-time royal. ‘His ambition to get a real job after leaving the Army seems to have faded,’ says my source. As I’ve mentioned, he’s also chief guest at the Royal Variety Performance on November 13. ‘If only he’d find a wife it would be perfect,’ sighs my source

^^ Harry's not a full time Royal yet. Since he came back from Africa he's had a mix of public engagements and volunteering at a rehab centre with wounded veterans. Apparently he is there or helping at their homes for three or four days a week, privately.

Even though he and William aren't yet full time royals there would have to be some kind of transition timetable in place for both of them. The Queen is 90 next April and finds climbing stairs quite difficult on occasions. Philip is 95 next June. They are both in reasonable health at the moment, but who knows! They aren't immortal, and Charles may take more and more on. Camilla might not be very healthy, and sooner or later William and Harry are going to have to resign themselves to full time Royal duties, probably in the next couple of years, IMHO.

Yes, them not doing engagements makes them look lazy. Especially W&K, who will be king and queen. Harry should help as well because he's a son of the next king. And there are only two siblings, more than enough stuff to do.

While Harry had a full-time job in the military, he managed to do a large number of engagements on the side. That number was smaller than it could have been, since most of his work with WWTW, Invictus, and Sentebale aren't counted in the CC.  He'll need to get an official paying job and continue royal engagements on the side. He cannot only do royal engagements as long as his brother keeps hiding from royal duty.

Bill and Kate need to stop playing around and start doing 500+ engagements each per year. Until they do that, Harry is in limbo.  Harry can continue at his current level for several years (100 or so per year), but ONLY if he gets a paying job too.  He will be attacked mercilessly if he doesn't.  Once the elderly royals retire or pass away, then he can transition to royal engagements only.

Prince Harry unveils new project to help injured veterans
Prince Harry has praised injured service men and women who "refuse to be defined" by what has happened to them and faced new adventures, as he announced a new scheme to help others find the right support.
