What is going ON with that social set, that so many end up so self-destructive?

Future Duke of Marlborough, 26, and his wife the new Marchioness of Blandford, 31, share details of their breathtaking society wedding at the family seat of Blenheim Palace

The couple, who met 10 years ago, held their reception at his family seat of Blenheim Palace, in Oxfordshire

The Making of a Marchioness

The childhood sweethearts married at Blenheim Palace

Modern-day fairy tales do exist. Handsome polo player George, the Marquess of Blandford and future 13th Duke of Marlborough, married his childhood sweetheart, the effervescent, petite and unfailingly polite Camilla Thorp, at Blenheim Palace this autumn. They met when 26-year-old George was only 16, while on holiday on the Isle of Wight. ‘One day he just started holding my hand,’ Camilla, 31, says sweetly, sitting in the drawing room at Blenheim Palace. ‘Our parents have been friends for years, which made life much easier. We didn’t have to do the whole “meet the parents” thing.’

Very easy access to drugs. Some can survive it but most of them no.

I do think the easy access comes from drug pushers who successfully push their way in via the nightclubs that these aristos frequent. Pushers are clever and know how to insinuate their way in and cleverly spike drinks, spike food, or just pass it to someone while dancing with them. I also think that the big reason pushers get access is because aristos are not staying among their estates (perfect places to hold parties and dance the night away). I really cannot understand why they venture into such places where it's awash with drugs, pimps looking to recruit young idiots while selling others to 'clients,' and it's not like aristocratic estates don't have the best booze.

I watched a documentary about the aristocracy, about the so called 'season' and I was astonished at how idyllic it was in many areas. They looked ELEGANT and refined and the very definition of the word 'glamorous' and it amazed me at how cultivated they aspired to be. How they were always dressed to the nines, coiffed carefully, and behaved impeccably. Their morals might have been horrific behind closed doors, but you would never have known. Clean games, dancing in ballrooms, and they wouldn't DARE be shown publicly drunk. It's a shame that aristos these days have absolutely zero respect for themselves.
