What has the Di issue got to do with this?  Sorry, but I see no relevance.

I don't think there was a plan against Diana personally.

^ Neither do I.  I did for a time but really looked into it - the variables are phenomenal.

But, this isn't about Di.

Why can't Camilla and Charles make more appearances within the Commonwealth? There are plenty of places for them to visit.

They can't just turn up in another country to visit.

The country to be visited has to send an invitation to the UK government who then, in consultation with the monarch, decides which, if any, royal to send. When a new couple forms within the BRF that couple, if high profile, will often be specifically invited somewhere but even then the government of the UK has to approve the visit.

Northern Ireland, of course, is part of the UK and so the royals can go there a lot more.

The republic isn't in the Commonwealth and this visit, like the Queen's a few years back, is part of the long-term peace process.

The royals simply don't have the right to 'turn up'.

The Commonwealth isn't their personal playground but a series of 54 independent countries, some with no previous connection to the UK or the BRF, before joining the Commonwealth e.g. Rwanda which was never part of the British Empire but applied to join the Commonwealth and was accepted.

They can't even just turn up in the other realms as these countries are also independent of the UK and simply share a Head of State. The Crown Dependencies are different - but again the royals only go there if the government sends them there for a reason.

I find it surprising that one could complain about this trip - it is first off to a part of the UK (northern Ireland) and to a former part of the UK (the republic of Ireland).  Obviously the UK's nearest neighbor and a major trading partner.  So clearly even if you discount the importance of reconciliation and moving peace forward a place PC should be visiting.  I also think he did a good job during this trip.
