Look who's there! Meghan Markle links arms with Harry in VIP box at Invictus Games closing ceremony - and she even flies in her mom Doria from LA to see her Prince live in action

well, WTF. I hope this is her parting gift because this odd relationship can't go on if he wants respect, peace and the continuation of his charity work. People will just contnue to slag him off and despite his good works here, he'll deserve it.
This is why he looked a bit stressed/tired during the closing speech. Jessica, her stylist and of course, her pimp, I mean her friend Markus s there also.
Besides, this mess, it was a great closing ceremony. The Boss was assume!!!!

Harry hasn't quit anything.

The plan was only ever for the British government to support the Invictus Games until 2020 and that is still the case.
Harry knew that going in. He knew it was a short term project and that is fine as far as he and his brother is concerned. They are committed to short 5 - 7 year projects rather than life time commitments. This is all part of 'modernising' the monarchy.

Why does the British government have to fund this? Can't he get sponsors or his rich friends to pony up? Short term projects is just not going to help anyone or get anyone to take them seriously.

The British Government don't have to fund the Games. That is why they are pulling out.

If Harry wants them to continue he needs to do two things:

get sponsors to fund them AND
make them financially viable so that the sponsors stay on board.

Sponsors want a return on their investment and if they are putting money in and losing it then they will pull out. If IG isn't making money then there won't be any people wanting to stump up the millions per year to fund this.

I think one of the mistakes they made was to try to run these in different countries every year. That means a lot of different expenses have to be redone annually which if the games were in one place those expenses wouldn't need to be done every year.

Why should his rich friends have to pony up to support something on which they aren't going to get a return? Just because they are Harry's friends doesn't mean they support the same causes and so they may be putting their money into other causes or not - their money - their choice what to do with it.

Harry is a multi-millionaire himself so I wonder how much of his own money he has put into this cause? If he isn't prepared to put his own money in why should anyone else?

I believe the CEO of the IG said that it's a movement now and he wants to leverage that into the public supporting the organizations that help the vets. He also said that all events were sold out and thanked the millions of people who watched the games. I saw a lot of empty seats and I'd be curious if millions watched.

Same here. I'd be very curious too. It doesn't even seem like the games were given as much attention as the previous ones. I think the best way for Invictus to help is to continue being Invictus and offering the games.

Prince Harry and the fallen Danish soldier who inspired the Invictus Games
Quote
Prince Joachim, from the Danish Royal Family, who accompanied Harry in Copenhagen today as his visited a military training centre, told ITV News afterwards that it was an emotional meeting for Prince Harry and that the death of that Danish soldier had been an “eye-opener” for him.

The Danish Prince told us that because of the Invictus Games, the death of Morten Krogh Jensen was “not in vain”.

“It will not lessen their loss”, he said, and Prince Joachim told the family before they met Prince Harry that “there is a meaning with everything”.

Prince Harry was also reunited today with the Danish soldier who won a gold medal in Toronto in the wheelchair rugby.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to team up with David Beckham for Invictus Games
FOOTBALL superstar David Beckham has signed up as an ambassador for Prince Harry’s Invictus Games, which is due to take place from October 20-27 in Sydney.
Of the Beckham ambassador announcement, Invictus Sydney tweeted: “We’re thrilled to welcome David Beckham as an #IG2018 Ambassador.
“Don’t miss your chance to witness our unconquered wounded warriors compete across eight inspiring days.”

The games in Oronto wasn't as successful as it could've been because of Meg and the lack of coverage on the games. If she's still around and goes to the games in Austraila, it'll be the same lack of coverage. The London and US games were successful because Harry did his part to bring the press but stepped back and let the veterans shine. With Meg, it'll be all about her and what she's wearing and her faux pas, etc. The press will focus on her because she's such a fake and an odd choice for Harry that she'l keep the press on her and she'll connly do stuff to enjoy the coverage that she'll get.

I feel sorry for the Australians who can look forward to reports of this horrible threesome every day and on every chat show.

David Beckham Is Going to Australia — with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!
Prince Harry‘s Invictus Games just got another major dose of star power. In addition to having Meghan Markle by his side at the Sydney event this fall, he’ll also be joined by new Invictus Games ambassador, David Beckham.

I think the games is in trouble with the possibility of adverisers and sponsors backing out. They saw what happened during the Toronto ages and know that they wont get the propeer coverage that other games received when Meg wasn't around. I really fel bad for he veterans who are working hard and looking forward to seeing their hard work pay off with being a part of the games, but they wont get their proper coverage that they deserve because it'll go to the crash common narcissist, Meg. Somehow, she shouldn't be able to go as no one really would miss her or want to meet her anyway, especially down under. Maybe that's why David being an ambassador's being highlighted because despite his recent scandal about wanting a knighthood, he's still very populaa and brings in good press.

Crowning the champions! Princess Mary to join Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and David Beckham down under for Invictus Games
Princess Mary and her husband Prince Frederik are set to join a slew of A-listers
David Beckham is an ambassador for the games, created by Prince Harry in 2014
The Games is the only international sporting event for wounded soldiers
The Beckhams are set to bring children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper
Victoria and David Beckham are also expected to attend the games held in Sydney.  thumbsup
Beckham is an ambassador for the games, which were created by Prince Harry in 2014.
He joins a host of Australians who have previously been announced as ambassadors for the Games, including Olympic gold medallists Anna Meares and Ian Thorpe.
It is expected Harry will travel to Australia for the event with his wife Meghan  huh

I love it. There's doubt that Harry will attend when it should be a certanty that he would. To me this is brilliant new because the games will be properly covered with the focus being on the vets and a srinkling of the celebrities getting their bit in the press.

I never understood why they did them every year and how they could finance them. It would make more sense for them to happen at least every two years.

Its seems like a double-edged sword: if Meg goes, the games will be overshadowed by her presence and the articles will be about what she wears and the royal protocols that she breaks. If she doesn't go, the articles will be asking why she isn't there.

So no matter what she will be mentioned during the IG, so she might as well go. She won't miss an important event like this that her husband created, we're stuck with her.  Angry

I hope CP Mary shows off some flawless fashion and makes Meg look ridiculous.  easter-wink

On the one hand, it's a good visual for the IG.  On the other, the taxpayers are technically funding this, so it's really a "welfare" project when such funds could go towards local needs.

Alex is right up there ^^.  Since it's not a self-sustaining project, an event every three years would be more fiscally responsible.  This is a very expensive project but in some ways does fall under the "good will" category.

Then, on the other hand, with the celebrities involved, it does "paint the pig" if you will and has a vanity project quality.

What bothers me most about the IG, is that I see no evidence of continual, active fundraising outside of the event itself.  To do the best job, it should be combined with the extremely well organized Wounded Warrior Project that is effectively promoted on a daily and yearly basis.

Combine, make it a truly intl project and let the ones who know how to raise funds and understand focus do it.  Otherwise, it's a fashion show.

Considering that KP announced only in June (a mere two months ago)  that Harry would be attending the Invictus Games as its founder and Patron (as well as going on tour within the Pacific) and that Meghan would be accompanying Harry, I'd say that they are both going to attend.

There's been no announcement from KP that either Meghan or Harry are withdrawing from either the IG or the tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga etc. Any withdrawal, except in the case of serious illness, would have been announced by KP long before this, with only weeks to go. Any impression otherwise is probably just a clunky bit of writing from the Fail journalist concerned, something not unknown to the pages of that rag.

You know, HM could write a check and the entire ting could be funded; they could get corporate sponsorship and easily get all this funded. As for the celebrities, they're just a pointless distraction and baggage. I cannot understand why Harry reaches to freeloading outsiders when he could easily use the experienced courtiers he has at his fingertips.

I realize now that Harry clearly doesn't see Beckham for the user he is and I do believe that Beckham is trouble along with his vapid wife. Harry should not let Beckham travel with him since clearly Beckham has no intention of contributing and I do dislike how Harry has let Beckham worm his way into his life and I do not understand what is so wrong with the princes that they play with fire by letting these bad types hang around them. How Beckham got an invite to both royal weddings, I do not know and I do believe that the princes have both gone stark raving mad.

As for Invictus, this is just an excuse for Harry to travel the world and be adored; if Harry kept Invictus in the UK, it would be a great way to draw tourists from around the world and bring in money for the local economy.
