Hi!  I'm a huge Christmas movie buff and have many faves but it would be nice to hear from other countries/people regarding their favorites and some I'm sure I've never watched.

Some of my favorites:

The Bishop's Wife
Christmas in Connecticut
A Christmas Carol (original 40s version)
The Holiday

And so on...

I just saw Love Actually and it's a good one!  Not that your other ones aren't.

Yooper,

I like to laugh on Christmas movies, you can't get much more funny than Chevy Chase

^So true.  Chevy Chase is an annual tradition around here, especially the original.  True classics and laughing does indeed help with the overall holiday angst.

I do also fall into the trap of enjoying those really corny tv movies that come out this time of year.  Christmas Lodge springs to mind.  Good for being under a blanket with a hot cuppa.

Forgot about:

The Shop Around the Corner (Jimmy Stewart) LOVE that movie, and
Bachelor Mother

^OMG!  I have both Giant and GWTW as purchases on my DVR and totally watch them during this time of year.  They're super terrific, long epics that are simply perfect.   loveshower

Metropolitan.   Love this witty, sophisticated film about young, upper-class Manhattanites at Christmas-time!

^Thanks Nighthawk.  I'd never heard of it but will do a search!  Sometimes those Hallmark movies are the perfect antidote to what ails ya.

Holiday Inn - I love this one - movie from which "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" comes - the Fred Astaire dance routines are so spectacular.

It's no exactly a Christmas movie, but around the holidays, my family always watch The Sound of Music. And we love it!

^Oh, no, I didn't think I should for fear that it would not do the original justice. Did you? If yes, is it worth watching?
