The Queen is marking the 60th anniversary of her Coronation on Sunday.

To celebrate, BBC Parliament will for the first time broadcast a digitally re-mastered version of the original black-and-white televised film footage of the event from 2 June 1953.

The footage has been restored by BBC Studios and Post Production's Digital Media Services team, who worked from the original 45 reels of negative black-and-white film.

Jonathan Wood, who led the restoration effort, explained to Nicholas Witchell how it was done.

You can watch The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on BBC Parliament from 1010 BST on Sunday 2 June.

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/prince-philip-defies-illness-to-attend-queens-coronation-anniversary-service-8643569.html

Quote
Prince Philip today defied illness to be at the Queen’s side for the service to mark the 60th anniversary of her coronation.

Just as he did in 1953, the Duke of Edinburgh served as Her Majesty’s “liege man of life and limb” at Westminster Abbey for one of the biggest royal turnouts since the Diamond Jubilee.

Philip, who turns 92 on Monday, caused concern when he pulled out of a palace gala reception with the Queen at the last minute last night after falling unwell. No details of his illness were given.

One senior source told The London Evening Standard: “He was feeling under the weather last night and didn’t want to take any chances.

“He doesn’t want a fuss, but wanted to make sure he was fit for today. There is no way the Duke was going to miss this service, no matter what anyone said,” the source added.

On the day of the coronation itself there were 8,200 guests, but today 2,000 were inside.

I think that there must be a lace overlay.

Have posted the image below on the Kate looking bad thread.

Kate looks awful today, I'm sorry but she does. Even if she is truly pregnant it doesn't excuse how haggard and unhealthy (particularly in the face) she looks. William looks better than usual. And Harry looks hot as always.  flirt

Beatrice and Eugenie both look lovely. Beatrice especially, she looks so regal and sophisticated. I don't know if Andrew invested in new stylists and make-up artists but if he has then it's working!

And of course the Queen looks fantastic.

Louise also stands out, she looks so cute!

p.s. When Kate sits down it always looks like she's worried about too much showing.  blink

Ha look at the looks on Autumn Phillips and Prince William and Harry's faces.  laugh

Would someone PLEASE teach Zara how to dress?

As for Kate, any photos of Kate chatting during the service? I saw it on the Kate Random chat thread, but don't have any photos to it.

Great stuff from the Guardian comments site!!!  (sorry - double post!)

Nicholas Winchell: "Good morning...we're broadcasting live from Westminster Abbey...The Queen and her entourage have just entered...the Queen is waving...actually, she appears to be making shapes with her hands...if one didn't know better, one would say they were gang signs...hahaha...her Majesty is saying something...sounds lke 'needsomerespectbitches'...could be French...the Queen is sitting down...she's searching her handbag...she's taken out a small glass object and put it to her mouth...she's applying a lighter and inhaling...she's shaking her head back and forth...shouting something...sounds like 'rockandrollbitches'...possibly German...reaching into her bag again and withdrawing...my word, is that a gun?"

BBC Defence correspondent Garth Dolt: "Yes, Nick. That's a Glock 9, an outstanding sidearm and a great favourite with American street gangs..."

Nicholas Winchell: Her Majesty turns to the Prince of Wales...she's shouting 'inherit this, *female dog*'...oh my God..she's shot Prince Charles, right through his Medal For Staying At Home Above and Beyond The Call of Duty...this is extraordinary..."

Garth Dolt: Yes, Nick...she's a woman of extraordinary pluck...judging by the hole in Prince Charles' chest, I'm guessing Her Majesty favours hollow-point rounds..."

Nicholas Winchell: "Her Majesty has turned to Prime Minister David Cameron..she's shouting 'blue-wearing Crip motherfucker, this is Blood's turf...'. Good heavens, she's shot Mr. Cameron in the knee...the Prime Minister is gamely trying to bow...she shoots him in his bald patch..."

Garth Dolt: "Nicholas, the SAS have entered the Abbey...they're shooting at the Queen..Her Majesty has dived behind a pew...she's returning fire...outstanding shooting, two SAS men are down..the congregation are cheering Her Majesty...the Queen is reloading..."

Kirsty Thing in the studio: Great excitement at the Abbey but we appear to have lost the feed...please bear with us..."

A boy can dream, can't he?

Kate is such an attention seeker her turning to talk to the "lesser Royals" pictures scream attention seeking to me no one around her seems to bare her presence there is a lot of tension there...Harry looks like he wants to put a finger in his eye   easter-lol...

I think Sophie is the only one she can get to be nice to her, the rest of them seem to not want to even pretend niceties with her. Autumn looks like she wants to tell her to turn back around , please.  laugh

Ok my fashion review:

The Queen's dress is weird with those panels. The hat with the flowers on one side looks cheap. Compared to last year's outfits for the jubilee this is one of the worst.

I like Camilla's hat although it may be a tad too big. But she needs a better bra!

Kate's dress looks badly done. And it was so short we could have seen the future prince/ess

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/06/04/article-2335617-1A23B38B000005DC-985_964x711.jpg

Zara's outfit is fugly and inappropriate.

Autumn (BTW the best photo of her outfit http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/zara-phillips-and-mike-tindall-attend-a-service-to-news-photo/169908185 ) Looks cool and her hat looks good on her. So  thumbsup But stop searching for the camera please  eating cookies

I love Bea's outfit

The coat is super glam but I may not have mixed the hat with feathers will all that fake diamond jewellery. Though I love that she experiments and has fun while remaining appropriate for the event.

Eugenie is a so so. She should forget about zippers.

Sophie looks like she is going nude under her dress http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/lady-louise-windsor-and-sophie-rhys-jones-countess-of-news-photo/169901691  Lips Sealed Maybe for a garden party but too much for a church service.

The Duchess of Gloucester wears a nice coat but maybe too wintery  dontknow http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/birgitte-duchess-of-gloucester-attends-a-service-marking-news-photo/169901869 while the D of Kent looks lovely in pink http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/katherine-duchess-of-kent-and-prince-edward-duke-of-kent-news-photo/169901782

I don't like Marie Christine blue suit http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/prince-michael-of-kent-and-princess-michael-of-kent-attend-news-photo/169902294
