Mixed reaction to the Jubilee in Wales - Cardiff in favour, Swansea definitely not.

However Jubilee spirit was in short supply in Swansea, with anti royalist sentiment to the fore. While substantial numbers of Jubilee revellers braved the rain in Cardiff,in the principalities second city few bothered to turn out.Former soldier Steven Jones,53,of Swansea, said."I am not anti-monarchy by any means but I can't see what is going on in London today has got to do with anyone in Swansea.I think many people here look at what's going on in London and feel it's a different world away from the lives of ordinary people."I was a soldier in the Royal Regiment of Wales so I served the Queen at one point."I've nothing against the monarchy but I don't think we should pay out for all the hangers-on.The extended family who benefit from the Royal connection".
IMO_As long as they are there even if you don't physically participate in parties your money is gone if you like it or not.Now your hard earned money is also going to a Climberton who does basically nothing all day and when the Queen is gone also her fam will be "supported" by your money.

A crowd of around 2,000 including schoolchildren and teachers and waiting dignitaries thronged Hatfield Park eager to catch a glimpse of the monarch.

When she arrived it was near frenzy and a sea of red, white and blue, as Her Majesty emerged from her car resplendent in a lilac double wool crepe shift coat and a lilac, green and yellow floral print dress designed by Stewart Parvin.

The fashion-conscious Queen’s matching hat was designed by Rachel Trevor-Morgan

She was greeted by Lord Salisbury and the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, and went on to meet a delegation from Welwyn Hatfield and Hatfield Town Councils, ...

Awww! Her Maj at the new baby "bakery"-fresh outta da ovens they come! I love Ma'am in Lavendar and Lilac-think she always looks exquisite in these shades and I loved the photo of the new mum showing off her day old sproglet in her slippers. Darn straight she deserves to be wearing those slippers after labour even if Her Majesty is dropping by for a look-in!  Too cute!!  easter-bunny easter-egg-basket easter-bunny  All the little bubbies-so darling!  thumbsup

How rude can DoLittle be - pointing her finger at HM!  Shocked  Seriously, what did that private education do for this vacuous woman? She's an airhead, with absolutely no sense of decorum!  Lips Sealed

Thanks for that picture - it explains the one where HM is smiling at her. It was most likely just a way to shut Waity up, to get her out of HM's face. Judges do it all the time ...  laugh

Jubilee diamonds: Spectacular gems from the Queen's private collection go on display at Buckingham Palace

It is the most valuable – and glittering - exhibition ever created at Buckingham Palace.

Ten thousand priceless diamonds on display, many for the first time ever, to mark the Queen’s Jubilee.

From the diminutive diamond crown worn by Queen Victoria throughout her widowhood, to the breath-taking Coronation Necklace, featuring a staggering 22.48 carat pendant, the exhibition features some of the most spectacular pieces from the monarch’s private collection.

Nice diamonds

^ Yep. That's why this whole "downsizing" thing is ridiculous. Only the monarch and heirs apparent working. W&K won't make it as K&Q, they are too used to hiding and going on holiday. Then their oldest child will also be pampered and spend time on holiday doing as few appearances as possible.
