Her (last) interview on ABC.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K_Q8OytB3k&playnext=1&list=PL7C912D67605C370B&index=24

I like her since the day I saw the exhibition about her and got to know her better.  Here is a true modern woman.  Her family was wealthy but she wasn’t living off her parents’ money.  She made her own life by working.  She made her own career and way to the top.  She was talented and graced by the nature of a great beauty.  It didn’t prevent her from being altruist and caring towards others.  Here is someone who is inspired and inspiring.  That’s why she stirred up so much interest and admiration, unlike someone else that  I wouldn’t name whom the UK tabs try to get people interested into her "nobody-ness".

One day, she was at a restaurant.  Josephine Baker was there as well but, despite she made a reservation and paid for it, they refused to let her in because of her skin’s colour... Grace Grace wouldn’t forget that scene.

Quote
KING: I had no idea that Grace Kelly was involved in the life of Josephine Baker, the famed star who had that historic incident of not being served in the Stork Club. She was black.

Grace Kelly, did what?

LEHMAN: Grace, was there when it happened. And she took her whole entourage and stormed out and said she would never return. And she never did. And she made it very clear about her views of Walter Winchell (ph), and Billingsley, the guy who ran the Stork Club. And then after that became friends with Josephine Baker. And later on when Josephine Baker had a lot of abuse problems and was on the skids, Grace supported her financially. And she had -- you may recall she had an orphanage of some 24 Rainbow Coalition Children. And Grace was one of the most significant benefactors, or supporters of it. And then coached her back for a great triumphant return to the stage. It was all Grace who did it.

KING: You ought to be very proud of her, J.B.

KELLY: Absolutely.

Many years later, Grace was princess of Monaco.  One day she read that Josephine Baker was into financial difficulties.  She (who risked her life during the occupation of France by helping the resistance and allies) and her whole family (of about 8 children) were about to be homeless.  Grace called her and offered her a job in Monaco as well as a house to stay in.

An other day, a tv crew were making a documentary about her in Monaco.  She was among children.  Suddenly, they asked to some children to stay on a side outside of the cameras because (again) of the colour of their skin.  Grace said if they were not filmed as well as the other children, she refused too to be into the footage.

So, she decided to support an American association fighting against racism.

She helped too a lot her husband and Monaco’s relations with France.  There was lot of (political and diplomatic) tensions between De Gaulle and Rainier.  Because of his wife, De Gaulle and France organised their state visit in great pomp @ Versailles.  The only other woman who received such honours by France was Jackie Kennedy.
Note that on the state visit to Monaco of Jackie&JFK, Jackie was wearing a design by Oleg Cassini...
During her time, Grace had smoothed the relation between Rainier and Onassis.  She was too a great "ambassador" to Ireland and honoured her Irish roots.

At the exhibition, among some private correspondences exhibited, a particular letter drew my attention.  It was written by Marcel Pagnol, who was among the guests at her wedding.  The member of the Académie Française, was writing to her about something written into the press.  He made her the greatest compliment that someone of his immense talent could say.  He told her that only an historian can write her biography.

I wanted to share this about Grace Kelly with you. flower

Grace was pure grace! She had it all: beauty, style, poise and a caring nature... I think that only Diana could match her. It's a shame that both died so soon, I believe that both still had alot to give to the world...

Grace really had it all, and just like with Elizabeth Taylor, I am a huge fan.

I find it quite sad that not one of her children turned out well. Albert was a shameless playboy until he turned 50, and Stephanie and Caroline have just had nothing short of disastrous private lives. Stephanie did nothing with herself, except produce children, and cavort around with her lovers, whilst Caroline went after a married man, seems jealous and spiteful, chain-smokes, and just never got it all together - though I suppose she does her share of charity work.

It's a shame because Grace came across in that last interview as a very loving and caring mother. Perhaps she just didn't discipline her children enough, or maybe she was controlling ... who knows? But something went seriously awry with all 3 of them. easter-think

Thank you for all the links to the pictures Grace Hi they are so fabulous. After 30 years there has never been a women with equally demeanour and style

Next to Grace Kelly I think Princess Diana looks totally ordinary and not stylish Lips Sealed Diana was maybe stylish in the 80's but I never liked that period. You could wear Grace's dresses any time, but not Diana's Lips Sealed
Just compare their wedding dresses. Grace = > HERE  Diana => HERE The one Grace wore is totally graceful and stylish. You can find similar ones on other wedding dress companies. Diana's dress is the ugliest wedding dress I've ever seen. All this puffy fablic added almost 100 pounds. But I do not want to open a Diana-Grace comparison discussion, though that might be interesting shifty It's just that every body talks about Diana as fashionable and I just don't see why, maybe it's because I haven't fully lived in the 80's dontknow but the fashion trends were awful IMO.
Grace Kelly is my style icon! Her clothers are simply timeless and elegant. flirt
