Wow. I hope George follows his example.  Is the house of Oettingen-Spielburg a Protestant one?

Now THIS is interesting; a British aristocrat dating and potentially marrying a royal princess. Has such a thing ever happened before?

Let's hope it lasts, maybe we'll get another wedding one day. loveshower loveshower

A member of the illustrious (modern day) Percy family marrying a Princess would be wonderful.

poor Pippa all that time chasing George and he still hasn't fallen.  tehe

If George Percy marries a foreign aristocrat/princess, it would be a massive slap in the face and just think, the DM COULD NOT get away with bashing her on a daily basis. All it will take are a few vists from lawyers and the DM will back off straightaway. Since the Percy family are high ranking aristocrats, Kate will be forced to attend the wedding. I am so flummoxed as to how aristocrats don't really get involved with the Continentals. The Van Cutsems could end up marrying up til their heart's content and aristocratic ladies could end up as princesses.

I always felt that Tom Van Straubenzee although he was nice to Kate, would have never gone near her with a ten foot pole(except maybe as a one time flirtation but nothing serious),because he had higher hopes for himself. IMO William's friends have better taste in women than PW himself.

Not in the idea of approaching her as wife material.

Kate was probably a nice enough person, but as a wife, men are nothing if not practical and (no matter how much they deny it) ambitious for themselves and their kids. JFK didnt' just marry a nice Irish girl, he went for Jackie who was socially prominent and was certainly connected/cultured.

Kate didn't cut it because she wasn't born into that set (one strike) and then there was the way she's always acted. If this were the Victorian Era or before, she would be one of the village wenches that the men go into town to pork, but not really be 'seen' with anywhere but in a tavern.

It's going to be interesting to see if the aristos end up marrying better titles than men in the BRF. Certainly there are princesses who would enjoy marrying into aristocratic families and certainly the mothers would enjoy the status of having a princess as a daughter-in-law.

I think Tom knew exactly what she was (I mean he did say she could be trusted to not talk and we have spoken before about how he knew that  shifty) so perhaps he would have had fun and then let her go, as William should have.

When was the last time we saw Tom with either of them? I think it has been years since we saw Tom and Kate together (not counting the wedding)

They are definately still the best of friends and always have been.

Tom has been out to Angsley to visit William and Kate, since the wedding a few times. He is still one of William's best friends, despite the press headline that he's somehow just Harry's best friends.

He gave Kate a rousing endorsement in one of the UK Papers that  Kate would follow in Diana's footsteps,I doubt he would have done so without William's permission.

Quote
Kate Middleton will emulate Princess Diana, says Prince William’s friend
Prince William’s friend Thomas van Straubenzee says Kate Middleton will use her fame to attract attention for worthy causes.
The Duke of Cambridge’s best friend, Thomas van Straubenzee, tells Mandrake that the former Kate Middleton will use the huge media interest generated by the royal wedding to direct attention to good causes.

“I think she will embrace it,” he says in his first ever interview. “She loves William and is ready to throw herself into it. I think she will use it to do good things.”

Speaking at the private view of wildlife paintings by Lynne Moore at the Frost & Reed gallery in St James’s, Van Straubenzee says: “No one says anything bad about Kate because she doesn’t deserve it. The wedding was fantastic.”

His father, Alex, adds: “In all the time I have known Kate, I have never seen her get flustered. She is so serene; she has an inner calm.”

Melissa is not close to Kate, but Tom is still close friends to William.

Kuei Fei I already think the Aristo circle of men around William have better taste in woman than him. He went slumming and rebelling when he hooked up with Kate, IMO.

To be blunt, I really think Kate was meant to be "a Fun time"-during University, but he fell for her and got entangled in her family and the press was on HER side pushing her so he simply folded.

Lady Churchill had a sapphire ring very much like Diana's. I guess Diana wasn't the first to have such a ring.

I don't think the ring's design was very original

That's a very small sapphire compared to Diana's.

Now THIS is interesting; a British aristocrat dating and potentially marrying a royal princess. Has such a thing ever happened before?

Marques Douro, heir to the Duke of Wellington, married Princess Antonia of Prussia.  Beautiful bride, and that was after romancing actress Gayle Hunnicutt. likewise the Earl of Litchfield romanced Brit Ecklund and then married Lady Antonia Grosvenor, daughter of the Duke of Westminster (they divorced before Patrick's death).
Except in the RF heirs don't seem to mind who the second wife is, but the first marriage "preserves" the bloodlines. No surprise that so many of them are in the bloodstock business.

there's been many articles in the spanish press about the bracelet but no one really knows, the most juicy rumour is that it belonged to Cristina.
