Sorry for all the threads, but this is one exciting wedding to me after all the angst and tackiness of Wasty's bloated show.

Gosh, I wish I could be there/go back.  Monaco is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.  So welcoming!

Anyway, more info/travel details, etc.

I'll never forget the image of him leaving Princess Grace's funeral, that was so sad.

Youtube video
timecode 00:25 Princess Diana arrives for Princess Grace's funeral

timecode 1:06 Prince Rainier, Pr.Albert,Princess Caroline leaving Princess Grace's funeral.

He was so shaken by Grace's death, that news reports at the time said he was considering abdicating, giving the throne to Prince Albert.

^ That was just a rumor. Clearly, it didn't happen. I really don't think he would've. He had a very Queen Margrethe/ Queen Elizabeth attitude when it came to the throne-"forget abdication, it's a career for life". Plus, leaving his unmarried, childless son to the throne? Imagine the succession issues there.... bignono Embarrassed

I never believed it. He was dedicated to the Principality as ruler.

I dunno, I believe that he thought about it and probably said something about it.  That man was in deep grief and people say and think many things.  For me, I can never forget his face of sadness; I know that face.  God bless him and his family.  He loved her so.

I agree. And like I said, leaving his childless, unmarried son to the throne?  bignono

It's so sad seeing a man so grieved, almost all the U.S.news reports when he passed away in 2005 showed that clip of him at Princess Grace's funeral and spoke of how much he loved her, it was very touching.

^ I agree-he loved Grace. Sure, they had their rocky times (mid-to-late 70s. There was a *reason* why Grace moved to Paris with Princess Stephanie when Princess Caroline went to university-and it wasn't for Princess Caroline's sake.), what marriage didn't? But still that love was there between them.

She was such a beautiful gracious woman. I was lucky enough to visit Monaco a few years ago and see Princess Grace's grave - that was a very special moment for me.

How lovely, Grace; thank you for sharing.  She was and still is, an icon and will never really disappear.
