It is easy to criticise Madde as she has made many errors (and I still think she should lose the appanage) but the white washing of Sofia is incredible.

Rumors are that she is responsible for the bad press that Madeleine gets.

Sofia always got articles praising and whitewashing her from a well-known Swedish journalist before (and still) marrying Carl Philip. Throwing Madeleine under the bus using this connection is easy for her.

Are there links to the articles? easter-egg-basket

^ They're mostly (if not all) in Swedish, so personally I can't help nor do I know who'd understand them here... If we have any Swedes/ Swedish speakers around, they might be of much greater help.
Many articles (with translations) are posted on other fora though, where the Swedes are discussed more.

Sofia's whitewashing is far more impressive than Kate's whitewashing. Thinking about whitewashing, the attempts to whitewash Camilla are pretty hilarious, but can't succeed because people have followed her for decades and know way too much for it to work. Kate's and Sofia's whitewashing don't work either that well, firstly not with those who've either watched (closely) from the beginning and secondly not with those who later took a greater intereset or saw the shoddily applied varnish crumble, like with Kate. Sofia might finally get her comeuppance once she isn't that "new" and once others have greater influence in media.

Sofia's only somewhat redeeming quality is that cutie of a son she produced; Alex is so far a very sweet & adorable boy, looking a lot like his father (for now, could change as the years go by..).

Sofia & Madde holidayed recently together (with husbands & kids of course), and I haven't looked too closely since nor has much been going on, but I'm under the impression that they might be trying to smooth things over behind the scenes (at long last?).. We'll see I guess soon enough how it'll work out..

Thank goodness it's a boy.  Sofia never needs to raise a girl.      eating cookies

Victoria will be a wonderful queen.  CP married a nude porn model.   CG needs to get over it, but he is what he is, and so I hope that Victoria will not be on the receiving end of CG's displeasure.

As far as Sofia having a third, well, depends on how well her body snaps back from this second pregnancy, imo.  Of course, she SWF's Maddie, who is having a third, so. . . . .

I think CG is pleased that his "true" heir CP has sons. Maybe he was hoping for a girl second time round, I don't know. Both Vic & Madde had girl first and then boys I just realize!
The birth was very quick and Sofia & son have to stay at the hospital tonight. Looks like they'll be released tomorrow, but either way, the Te Deum has been postponed to Monday (unless they change it again, but I don't think so).
All the family has publicly given out congratulations (CG & Silvia, Vic & Dan, Madde & Chris). CG & Silvia have also been to the hospital already for a visit.

PS

Let's hope he's not THAT big! Prince Carl Philip jokes about the size of his second baby son as he announces the birth of Sweden's newest royal

Prince, 38, held press conference at  Danderyd Hospital hours after birth
New baby is second son for Carl and his wife Princess Sofia, 32
Couple has decided on name but are not revealing it publicly just yet
Baby was born weighing 7.4 lbs and measuring 49 cm

SWF = Single White Female(ing)

"single white female
v: to imitate to the point of stalking. Based on the movie of the same name.
"Hey, this girl is single white femaling me. I can't get her off my back!""

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=single%20white%20female

"Single White Female is a 1992 American psychological erotic thriller film based on John Lutz's novel SWF Seeks Same. The film stars Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh and is directed by Barbet Schroeder."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_White_Female

Meaning Sofia copies Madeleine a lot, which is true. She tends to dress in eerily similar clothing to Madeleine's.
Sofia copies Madeleine; Kate copies Diana. A whole SWFing fest!

Congrats to Carl Philip and Sofia. Two boys to grow up together and play and be companions. Lovely! I also see that Sofia, having given birth less than two days before, chose to wear very tight jeggings to go home from the hospital. As a mum of three (a long time ago) I winced a bit at that. But to each his (or her) own!

^ I was surprised about the tight trousers too.... Can't imagine that being comfortable, but who knows...

Name & title have been revealed today:

Prince Gabriel Carl Walter, Duke of Dalarna; will be known as Gabriel.

I'm not sure what I think about Gabriel as a name. It's very popular in Europe I think, but for a Swedish prince...? I suppose the Carl and Wslter were inevitable.

I like Gabriel, Carl was a given, Walther I find old-fashioned. Silvia's father was called Walther (slight correction to my above post - the spelling is "Walther" and not "Walter"), so that's likely where it came from. Alexander & Gabriel fit together, I like both names but can't say how well they fit in a Swedish context.
Sofia grew up from age 6 in the county of Dalarna, so that's why that duchy was chosen (she was born in Stockholm and seems to have spent the first 6 years of her life there).

I have a cousin Gabriel! But it remains also a rather -not unusual, but not very used(?) name.. Don't know how to call it.. Kind of everyone is familiar with the name Gabriel (maybe because of Archangel Gabriel?), but no one or rather very few people call their sons Gabriel. Gabrielle/ Gabriella on the other hand I have met a few women called that. Men (Gabriels) not so many. My (distant) cousin is literally the only guy I have ever met with that name.
From a totally non-Swedish perspective, I find it a nice name and think it's good they used a classy/ classic name that isn't used much these days. The parents are far from classy, but to me they chose good names for their kids so far.
Indeed, he's not the only "prince Gabriel" of his generation! But the "Leonore" variations have been used quite a bit too, in Spain & Sweden (& elsewhere? my mind draws a blank).
