Times like this I like having politicians running things; if a mistress gets pushy, it's the mistress that gets the boot.

I read the Anne Edwards book about Diana and she talks about 1983 as the time Charles and Camilla resumed their affair. But they were also meeting up at the hunts prior to that. I can believe that the date was earlier

I am sick of everybody re-plowing this old information. Diana is unfortunately dead. It was tragic end to the poor tortured soul. However, all of the parties involved made mistakes. None were ever perfect. The truth and nothing but the truth will never truly be known. Let her and all the awfulness that happened be done.

'The tapes are private!' Camilla biographer RAGES over Princess Diana documentary

THE woman who penned a tell-all Camilla Parker-Bowles biography has blasted Channel 4 for planning to air explosive ‘video diaries’ documenting Princess Diana’s failed marriage to Prince Charles.

The furious royal author said: “I think it’s appalling, I cannot see any justification for it at all – these were made in private, Diana had no idea that they would ever be broadcast. “They are deeply personal, they will be extremely humiliating to the Prince of Wales, damaging to the Royal family, hurtful to William and Harry and Diana’s sisters and brother – I simply cannot understand the justification.”

Blood money! Growing fury at Channel 4's plan to screen 'deeply personal' Diana tapes described as 'incredibly hurtful' for her family
Queen's former press secretary said Diana was unaware tapes would come out
Dickie Arbiter said their release is 'shameful' and down to 'grubby blood money'
Author Ingrid Seward said her sons 'must feel very exploited and angry again'
Royal biographer Penny Junor said footage 'extremely humiliating' for Charles

This outrage is all about the rep of Charles and the Windsors... obviously the Spencers dont look good - where were they when she was going through PPD and bulimia? Why was a childhood friend, and not her own family, who helped her? They dont look good in Morton book and in this tapes where she is seen saying all that (Morton book) stuff, obviously dont help the matters.

I never saw this outrage when Ingrid Seward, Sally B Smith and Penny Junor had written what they wanted in their books about Diana as a mother as woman/wife.

Gosh Junor really deserves to be thrown into a volcano. This is so infuriating to read. So when she humiliates and damages Diana('s reputation & memory) with total lies, heavily embellished half-truths and disgusting and cheap excuses for C&C, then that's ok, but when Diana and others on her behalf talk (like she does for C&C) then that's unforgivable. This is exactly what I mean when I say that it's good that Morton and others continue to speak about Diana on her behalf and they air what she said herself. She is still thrown under the bus and can't defend herself anymore, so others have to do it and she herself with old things.

Anyway, if Junor doesn't realize what a hypocrit of a b*tch she is, then she is thicker than two planks that have been fused together. Despicable woman.

Amongst many reasons why people don't let Diana rest, is first and foremost her ex-husband and his wife who don't let her rest, which then snowballs in others piping in.

Junor is such a self righteous hypocrite. She's been trashing Diana for nearly 20 years in her cut and paste books. Trashing based on hearsay and maybe things "darling" Camilla told her. Charles probably confessed about his "miserable" childhood and how he had the "mad" wife. Junor is disgusting.

It’s not the secrets of her love life that’ll hurt the boys – it’s another emotional Exocet: Diana's friend says the REALLY unbearable moment of sex tapes shows her and William laughing together

William and Harry are heard but not seen in the tapes. They talk to their mother and joke with her. Settelen said the boys were not  around much during the taping session.

I do think that all this bashing of Diana is the one reason no decent family is willing to match a daughter of their house with the Windsors; if anything went wrong, their relatives would be blamed and the Windsors would cut her out and trash her reputation and even her family.

Yes, Diana was treated terribly. Cheated on pretty much from the beginning of the marriage. Mistress feeding dirty laundry about the marriage to the media. Being called "mad" and "paranoid" by so-called friends. Then being bashed in the media, and books trashing her even after she's long dead. Plus, the media runs stories about pretty much everyone in the family, not just the one marrying in, and nobody's family is perfect.

Diana brought more energy and glamor and positive attention and the BRF had the gall to behave as if THEY were the ones doing Diana (and the public) a huge favor by 'letting' her do things that actually made the rejected feel worthy of being treated as human beings. I'm disgusted that almost none of them ever made a sincere effort to dress nice, make a genuine effort to enjoy their lives, and actually have the gall to condescend those they visit. Diana did none of that and she at least had the guts to make a sincere and genuine effort to basically make her appearances memorable. With Diana at least she did her best by people and it's not like she treated those in need as if she were doing them a favor by showing up. I wonder how many people fondly remember Princess Anne's visits and it's not like Princess Anne really goes out of her way to look nice and be genuinely affable.

The fabulous nerve of the woman! Diana would have LOVED her intimate tapes being aired, says JAN MOIR, as they show her in a golden light, heartbreakingly vivacious - and will haunt Charles

Just when you think there could be no more fresh nuggets to be panned amid the tragic detritus on the royal riverbed, here comes Diana: In Her Own Words (C4).
This new documentary, featuring recordings she made with her voice coach, revealed that Princess Diana saw herself as 'a fat Sloane Ranger', while Charles was someone who 'followed me around like a puppy'.
That was in the beginning, of course, when she couldn't have known that the end was bearing down upon her with unspeakable haste.
We also learn that Charles and Diana met just 13 times before getting married and afterwards had sex 'once every three weeks before it fizzled out'.

...

No wonder there has been so much antipathy towards this programme being aired. Not because of what Diana does or does not say.
More that in this dark Windsor whirlpool, what comes swirling to the surface once more is an awareness of just how badly the royals treated the vulnerable Diana all those years ago. A woman who, after all, only wanted to be loved.
Yet the bigger conflict at the heart of In Her Own Words is the issue of the tapes being made public in the first place.
Some, including her brother Earl Spencer and many commentators close to Prince Charles, have contended that this is a private film, as sacrosanct as a diary with a key turned fast in the clasp.

...

Prince William and Prince Harry have remained silent, but elsewhere the mood emanating from the House of Windsor is that of pearl-clutching horror, sanctimoniously disguised as concern for the late princess and her memory.
It is not what she would have wanted, they moan, reaching for the smelling salts as they pull up the drawbridges – but haven't we been here before? Here is history repeating itself as those who wish to silence Diana once more do so to protect themselves, not her.
Actually, I think that Diana would love these videotaped sessions from 1992 being broadcast. Adore it! For the recordings show her in a golden light; rueful, amused, heartbreakingly vivacious and beautiful, noble in her obvious loneliness.

Here she is, scalded but brave, brushing up her oratorical skills as she prepares to embark on a new and independent life following her split from Prince Charles. The fabulous nerve of the woman!

...

And in truth, very little of what Diana says is new, shocking or can be unknown to her sons – although it is fascinating and yes, a little intrusive, to hear it from her own lips.
Perhaps no son or daughter really wants to know about mummy and daddy's sex life or the fact that she wanted to run away with a former bodyguard (Barry Mannakee), who was 'the best fellow I ever had'. However, if the princes have managed to cope with the bald fact of their father's mistress (now wife) for all these years, then surely they can cope with this.
Giggling on her candy-striped sofa, Diana is around 30 years old but seems much younger. With the eye-rolling goofiness of a teen relating her schoolgirl crushes to a rapt audience in the Mallory Towers dorm, she burbles on with enthusiasm. She is very funny about the night she and Charles started dating; all it took to get him interested was for her to empathise over the recent death of Lord Mountbatten.

....

How the Windsors must be dreading this 20th anniversary of her death and the poor light it casts upon them. Especially Charles and Camilla, who have done everything possible to rinse away their rackety past and reconstitute themselves in the public's affections.
Yet even they cannot escape this past that will not die. Attempts to stop this documentary show how the powers that be tried and failed – yet again – to control the Diana narrative.
Once more her voice is heard above the royal hubbub. And don't say she wouldn't love that.

I think Jan Moir is somewhat right. Diana is certainly dominating the headlines these months again and most people seem to come to her defence, so all in all that's good news for Diana.
She might've gone first, but it looks like she'll nonetheless have the last laugh...
