I think the media has given this issue a fair chance to grasp the public imagination and it has failed to do so. Which is why the DM has some very cutting stories today re the Middletons and street parties.

All the papers must know what's what and they are all tentatively watching each other as they all want to be the first to break the big stories (of stuff they have marked confidential). They don't seem to be too worried about not getting interviews either as that is usually the deal - you play the game with us and we'll give you an exclusive or some such. So I think it's telling they are putting out these stories - albeit they are weasel worded but you can easily read between the lines.
