Puberty Education & Menstrual Hygiene Management: An Education Sector Responsibility

Puberty is a time of change for all young people, but it is particularly challenging for girls who are often unprepared for changes in their body, which can become a major obstacle to their education. In some parts of the world, two out of three girls reported having no idea of what was happening to them when they began menstruating.

This can have many negative effects on their physical and emotional development, leading to a drop in self-esteem and poor performance at school. According to a study in Ghana, 95% of girls reported sometimes missing school due to menstruation; and research in Ethiopia showed that 39% of girls reported reduced performance at school for the same reason. Often the lack of adequate toilet facilities at school, combined with fear and embarrassment further contribute to their disengagement from education at this crucial time in their lives.

Apparently Prince Joachim has decided to place his country-estate Schackenborg in a foundation. He will no longer work there as manager/ farmer but the couple will keep the house as their country-home.

Some years ago it was said that Joachim was in serious debt because of some modernisation of Schackenborg. Perhaps the debt was too heavy for the prince.

The official reason is that the couple finds it hard to combine their royal work with the farm. Which seems a bit odd because it has been known since te 1970's that Joachim would do this after he inherited the estate from a Danish count who had no children of his own.

^Thank you for the new info!

Royal work? What a joke.

But even if the place is in a foundation what does it mean for the debts? They will still have to be paid.

Maybe it's more of an inheritance issue? I do not know how they work in Denmark but maybe in this way Marie will have more control in the future.

Quote
Prince Joachim and Princess Marie has decided to let Schackenborg Castle, Prince Joachim took over in 1993, transferred to a fund and move to Copenhagen with their two children.

This was announced by the royal family on Tuesday.

The reason is that it has become too difficult for the couple to run the castle in Møgeltønder, and Prince Joachim calls the decision to sell Schakenborg "difficult", but stresses that he is convinced that this approach "ensures Schackenborg future as possible."

Judging from the comments on TV 2 Facebook pages with the most recent days has been intense debate on the issue, there is not much support for the royales decision by the Danes.

- Hope that the royal family is paying all the costs associated with it, so it is once again the taxpayers to finance the royal family, writes Thomas Kirkemann while Dorthe Knudsen describes Prince Joachim as "Denmark's luckiest farmer".

- he gets a castle and estate as a gift, and then he rund away from it. The prince should then be ashamed, supplements Bodil Marie Nielsen.

I will file this under 'another royal who can't make it in the real world and runs back to a pampered, tax-funded, life'.

Boy am I glad that Queen/ Princess Beatrix made it clear from the start that her younger sons had to be able to provide for themselves, with some help of private trustfunds inherited from grandparents etc. But at least neither of them have ever received one euro in taxpayers money.

I believe there have been rumours for years that in spite of Joachim's best efforts (and I think he is genuinely interested in agriculture) the estate could not pay for itself. I think Schackenborg Castle looked a charming fairy tale place and it's a shame that it will no longer be a family home.

Here some views from  Mik Schack. On his birth certificate says Michael Hans Count Schack, but the fine noble ancestors never said him anything. He refused to enherite the castle at the time. Then Joachim got it instead..

Quote
The castle has already cost him a marriage. So I can understand that he leaves, says Mik Schack to bt.dk.

- I have no idea what my ancestors would say that it is now transferred to a fund and that Joachim and Marie moves away. There's probably someone who is sad. But there were also many who were sad that it never really was Joachim's home. That he rarely was there.

- But honestly. He got it jammed down the throats as 9 years old!

It smells fishy.

HC can you give more info on the castle? Do you think a danish person can live on the farm or not?

http://www.b.dk/debat/prins-joachim-har-gjort-det-danske-monarki-betydelig-skade

According to Berlingske newspaper claus kastholm Joachim has damaged the royals.

He tells that at some point margrethe as a teenager got irritated by people looking but king frederik scolded her.
He says cp frederik has learned the lesson and is very grounded, while Joachim shpuld have been put under administration if he couldnt manage schaclenborg.

One of the most expensive mansions in den mark.

Must be true what the papers write, that Joachim got 100 million kroner for scackenborg.

Euh 100M krone that's about 13.5M € or 17M$ give or take.
So he should still have some 'pocket money' left from the castle sell even after he bought a new place, unless the wife want's to go shopping in Paris or Dubai twice a month it should last them a lifetime and then some.
These royal ppl don't really know the value of money I guess..  dontknow
