I often wonder how different things would be if they did not have thousands of residences. After all, if the RF used Buckingham Palace for city residency, Sandringham for the country, and staying at embassies for foreign travel, it would cut down drastically and would ironically make security a lot more effective. I don't think Princess Anne and Prince Edward need their own vast estates and it's not like the vast palaces are mere cubbyholes.

It would also cut down on the expenses related to providing security and of course, the palaces would be maintained regularly. I myself would be sick and tired of paying the RF to maintain these places and yet, the money isn't spent on maintenance.

^^ What a beautiful palace! Thanks for sharing! flower

^^ I agree KF, why do they need so many palaces when they live in one and use the others like once or twice a year? When I saw the places that Anne, Ed and Andy have it kinda shocked me because, they are huge for just themselves to live in.

It's absurd. Throw in what Zara has and this is something that is obscene.

Sofiero Palace is located north of the town of Helsingborg in southern Sweden. Sofiero was bought by Prince Oscar and his wife, Princess Sophia in 1864.
Prince Gustaf Adolf (the future King Gustaf VI Adolf) received the Palace of Sofiero as a wedding present in 1905. Some of the flower gardens were created by Gustaf Adolf's wife, Crown Princess Margareta.

Inveraray Castle is near Inveraray in the county of Argyll in Scotland.
It is the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll.
Princess Louise, the daughter of Queen Victoria, married John Campbell, Marquess of Lorne and the future 9th Duke of Argyll.
