Lady Mary Crawley

The omens are not good for this marriage, first threats of riots by anarchists, now possible police demos!     I can imagine how galling it must be for the police to have to escort spoilt, pampered, Waity to the Abbey, whilst their own jobs are under threat.

Quote
Paul McKeever, chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales, said the proposed cuts in police funding come after a two-year pay freeze for officers.  He told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme: "For many officers it is going to mean them losing their homes or not being able to put the heating on.
He said morale was "rock-bottom" and he could not rule out taking judicial action, suggesting police staging a march in the build-up to the royal wedding as one possibility.

IF it really is getting this bad, then it should be at a side chapel or at least somewhere a lot more secure and less expensive.

euhm completely OT but:
A little food for thought....who do you turn to if you have material damage due to a riot on a police demo??
I mean if the cops get angry and start rioting who do you turn to? huh dontknow
And who is responsible for the security during such a police demo? their own colleagues? a private security firm? the army?

The armed forces would then get involved. But I doubt the police would riot. They have a right to demonstrate and march though. Police in the UK are being walked all over. Fancy cutting the budget of one of your essential services whilst on the other hand increasing spending on a non-essential royal wedding. It doesn't make sense. nomorekate

Yay, Akasha!!!  I've got a ways to go to keep up with KF, too, but I think I'm in the 1000 club, too.  Not sure.  Not even sure I should be proud of all that blabbering!  Hugs to all and over and out for a few days/a week.

I'll miss you guys!!!

As for the police.  Damn straight (sorry for swear word), enough is enough.  Why in all the name of all that's holy do they refuse to move this thing and back down, make it low key?!  Too late, I suppose.

L8R, dear friends.
