Prince Andrew opens ISIC European space center

Quote
Yesterday, Prince Andrew formally opened ISIC, The International Space Innovation Centre, in Harwell, Oxfordshire. The BBC and others reported that the center provides space for scientists and others to develop the space industry, currently valued at around £7.5 bn. The growing sector is seeing a 15 percent rise in the number of staff it employs.

The Duke of York reportedly said that space offered great opportunities for Britain's scientific community, industry and education.

"This is the start of something which could be extremely large for the United Kingdom, something which we should be justifiably proud to be able to shout about, not just here in the UK but when we travel around the world," he said at his speech.

Thanks, Akasha.  Andrew pops up on my radar every so often and it's always helpful to get facts and statistics, to me, instead of just impressions.  Lemme ask you, tho, are all of these visits helping?  Is he a good ambassador, iow.  That's not meant in any kind of sarcastic questioning.  He's blasted so much and we don't always get the other side of the story in the good old media.

Prince Andrew to abseil from Shard

Quote
The Duke of York will abseil from the summit of London's Shard, the tallest building in Europe, to raise funds for good causes.

Prince Andrew will descend more than three-quarters of the 310-metre skyscraper, from the 87th floor to the 20th, on 3 September. The 250-metre abseil is in aid of the Outward Bound Trust and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

His daughter, Princess Eugenie, became the first person to contribute to his fundraising efforts and left a message of support on a donation website: "Well done papa! I'm so proud of you! Xx". Writing on the event's official website, Andrew, who is the Outward Bound Trust's chairman of trustees, said: "I am delighted to be leading the descent of the Shard. I am also very proud … of the work the trust undertakes with young people to give them challenge through adventure."

The wedding only raised 750k.

Talk about barely trying; people in that cathedral could have easily ended up giving one million each. William married himself a regular society lady, despite his apparent desire not to, eh?

Title: Re: "Prince Andrew to abseil from Shard"
Post by: leogirl on August 23, 2012, 06:47:19 am
That's really sad. I think the wedding needed more PR in that area and less of the media's "wedding of the century" crap. What a disaster to only raise 750k. I think Andrew can easily outshine them if that's the best they can do on their freakin' WEDDING.

Sorry, but a 2011 wedding is not going to be the wedding of the century. It just isn't. It's too early and there are several decades left for people to top it. Maybe PW's grandson's wedding, but not his.

Prince Andrew accepts invite to Victoria Highland Games in May

The 150th Victoria Highland Games and Celtic Festival in May will have a royal flavour - Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, has accepted an invitation to attend.

The invitation was sent to the prince about two years ago, said Victoria Highland Games Association president Jim Maxwell.

"We're very excited," Maxwell said. "It takes time to happen, but the stars aligned."

The 53-year-old prince is the third child of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

He will be "chief of the games," and will be involved in many activities.

Royal Society bust-up over Andrew

SOME of Britain’s leading scientists are in revolt over the election of Prince Andrew as a fellow of the Royal Society because of his “over- colourful” past and lack of a scientific background.

They have objected to the Royal Society’s use of a ballot paper that only allowed them to vote “yes”. The Duke of York was elected with just 11% of the vote following a huge number of abstentions.

The objectors have told Sir Paul Nurse, the society’s president, that they oppose the choice of Andrew and the way the election was conducted.

Lord May, a former president, said he was dismayed by the handling of the vote. “This is not the way to run an election. A ballot where you can only say yes is a bad idea and should be changed.”

Quote
From rubbing his royal shoulders with dubious foreign tycoons, to being photographed with his arm around a  so-called ‘sex slave’, Prince Andrew has managed to create for himself a disastrous public image.

But now in a bid to change all that, the Duke of York is re-branding himself. The Queen’s second son, who detests his ‘Air Miles Andy’ nickname, has quietly taken down his old website which was devoted to his former role as trade ambassador — a job he was humiliatingly forced to quit two years ago after a string of scandals.

He has replaced it with a new site which lauds his role supporting the Queen and describes what he sees as his contribution to ‘British prosperity’.

Andrew portrays himself as a hard-working member of the Royal Family who neither drinks nor smokes, who pays his taxes and is devoted to his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.

Significantly, a section of the website is devoted to his Princesses — and even his former wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, gets a look-in, appearing in no less than five family snapshots.

After leaving the Royal Navy in 2001, Andrew became a full-time working royal with responsibility for trade and industry.

But he was accused of wasting taxpayers’ money on chartering private jets and helicopters and faced increasing scrutiny over claims he was ‘cashing in’ on connections with wealthy trading partners.

The Duke of York becomes first royal to join Twitter under his own name

THE Duke of York has joined social network site Twitter, it's been revealed.

The 53-year-old Royal launched his membership today and simply tweeted: "Welcome to my Twitter account - AY."

Prince Andrew is the first Royal to have joined under his own name and tweets signed 'AY' are personally written by him, whereas others will be posted by his office.

"The Duke has long been an early and enthusiastic adopter of new technology," a spokesman for Andrew said.

"He was in fact the first member of the British Royal Family to tweet on the British Monarchy (account) when he visited Tech City. The logical next step was to tweet individually."

A range of scarves made by vulnerable young women in India as part of an ethical retail project will go on sale in Topshop this week, thanks to an initiative set up by Prince Andrew.

The hand-printed scarves, which will retail for £32 each, have been crafted by young women in West Bengal who have been abused and trafficked into the sex trade before being rescued by the Women’s Interlink Foundation.

The Duke of York visited the charity last year as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and was so impressed that he set up the Key To Freedom organisation to help market the women’s wares to Britain.

The women earn a living wage and profits from the scarves will fund more projects across India. The Women’s Interlink Foundation says many of the girls and women it rescues have been subjected to intense physical and mental torture.

The charity houses rescued women and provides them with education, healthcare and counselling, as well as training them in vocational skills.

Globetrotting Prince Andrew under fire over New York stopover during 'official' world tour to have dinner with Eugenie as she starts new job
Prince met with youngest daughter during final leg of 'official' world tour
Think tank Royal United Services Institute subsidised Prince's expenses
Palace insists the rest of New York stay was paid by the Prince himself
The body has appointed Prince Andrew to its board of advisors
He was accompanied on his trip by his publicly funded security team

Royal globetrotter Prince Andrew has come under fire after taking his daughter Eugenie to dinner in New York during an official world tour, which has been partly funded by the taxpayer.
The prince, nicknamed Air miles Andy for his habit of taking long-haul flights at the public's expense, is currently on the final leg of a three-week, 21,258-mile ‘official’ trip.
He took Eugenie, 23, who has moved to the city to work for a year for an online auction company, out for dinner at ABC Kitchen on Wednesday night.
The palace has insisted that his primary reason for being in New York was to attend a Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guard and Airmen's Club ball.
The Queen’s son, 53, was forced to give up his formal role as a UK trade ambassador after a string of scandals.

He is the only member of the royal family who refuses to publicise his foreign travel in advance.
A spokesman for the Duchess told the Daily Telegraph: 'Their schedules worked so they were both able to be there at the time Eugenie was moving to New York.
'If the Duke was there at the same time it would have have been because he wanted to be there when his daughter was moving away for a year.'
The Prince had four days of official engagements while visiting Indonesia and Vietnam, but also managed a further eight days designated 'private time'.
The first leg of his tour of the Far East was funded in full by taxpayers, Buckingham Palace admitted last night. A one-way-business class ticket would cost at least £5,000.

Prince Andrew, Duke of York, backs our new campaign to get 125 young people into apprenticeships

Quote
The Duke of York has helped the News to launch a new campaign to improve the lives of young people by securing them apprenticeships.

In the year of its 125th anniversary, the News has teamed up with Cambridge Regional
College, with support from Prince Andrew, to find apprentice places for 125 youngsters by the end of the academic year.

The Duke said he was “delighted” to support the 125 Apprentices – 125 Years campaign, adding that employers must accept they no longer have the pool of talent they enjoyed during the baby boomers’ generation – and must find other ways of getting the right staff.

He told the News: “It’s about trying to encourage young people to recognise that the apprenticeship route is a route which is going to give them the value they want from a job.

“But it’s also about encouraging businesses to recognise they are going to have to recruit and train, which they have not had to do for a number of years.

Koo Stark sues Rupert Murdoch in US courts over phone hacking

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/world/koo-stark-sues-rupert-murdoch-in-us-courts-over-phone-hacking-7684748.html

this could be quite significant - if any of the US investigations make it to court - because the RF would not be exempt from disclosure - details that are being kept from the UK public might become public in US trials - especially if the bribery cases come to court - since the bribery was to palace officials.

NoW staff bribed palace staff to get inside info - NoW 's parent com0any is a US company - and it is against US law for a US company to engage in bribery overseas (and at home too).  The FBI is currently investigating these reports of the News of the World bribing palace officials - if it goes to court in the US - all the salacious details will come out.

Happy birthday Prince Andrew: nine facts about the royal

Prince Andrew celebrated his 54th birthday on Wednesday 19 February.

While the Duke of York is expected to mark the occasion privately with family and close friends, the prince thanked his near 40,000 Twitter followers for their well wishes.

"Thank you for all of the very kind birthday messages," wrote the father-of-two

In honour of Andrew's birthday, HELLO! Online has compiled a list of nine facts you may not have known about the prince.

1. Andrew was born in the Belgian Suite in Buckingham Palace on 19 February 1960, as the second son and third child of The Queen and Prince Philip. At the time of his birth, he was second-in-line to the throne, however he is now currently fifth-in-line.

2. The prince was the first child born to a reigning monarch at Buckingham Palace for over a hundred years, the last being Queen Victoria's youngest child, Princess Beatrice, in 1857.

3. After finishing his A-Levels in English, History, Economics and Political Science, the prince decided to enter the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth instead of going to university. In November 1978, it was announced that Andrew would join the Royal Navy the following year.

PRINCE Andrew stars in a new behind-the-scenes film about Buckingham Palace in an effort to recruit people from a wider range of backgrounds to work for the Royal Household.

The Duke of York, who is fifth in line to the throne, may not be everyone's idea of the perfect advert for the monarchy but he is passionate about encouraging better training and job opportunities for young people.

He is spearheading the recruitment drive by appearing in Behind the Palace Gates, a film made by students from a London school where he is patron.

Andrew, 54, gave an interview to pupils from Hackney University Technology College, who made the film with the support of the Mother London advertising agency after spending three days behind the scenes to get a rare insight into the working's of the monarch's London residence.

Prince Andrew and George Clooney's Ex Monika Jakisic Kiss During Romantic Dinner Date

So long, George! Prince Andrew and Monika Jakisic, an ex girlfriend of George Clooney, had a romantic dinner date in Knightsbridge, London on Thursday, March 6. The new couple arrived separately at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, and stayed for nearly three hours.

PHOTOS: Clooney's exes

"It looked like a romantic night," an onlooker told Us Weekly. The 33-year-old Croatian model looked beautiful for the night out, as she wore leather trousers and black Louboutin shoes. At around 10:30 p.m., they called it a night.

"They walked together towards the door and were smiling as she put her coat on," the eyewitness told Us. "They chatted in the lobby for a while and then he leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. She giggled and seemed a bit shy. He watched her leave, smiling to himself."

While bankers have been the subject of vilification since the economic crisis of 2007, Prince Andrew is going to extraordinary lengths to court them.

A palace spokesman has taken the unusual step of making public that the Duke of York footed the bill for a lavish dinner at Buckingham Palace for some of the City of London’s richest bankers — out of his own pocket.

‘I can confirm that the dinner was paid for privately by the Duke,’ says the spokesman.

Andrew most likely takes his flamboyant life style from the 7th Earl, who was the racing manager to Queen Elizabeth II from 1969, and one of Her Majesty's closest friends.
Further back in time, Lord Carnarvon married Almina Victoria Maria Alexandra Wombwell, the illegitimate daughter of millionaire banker Alfred de Rothschild.
Yes, bankers and banking, breeding racehorses is their penchant.  :-
As for Andrew footing the bill, that I find hard to believe. The gangster, bankers probably footed the bill. Peanuts for them!

Prince Andrew praises Bahrain, island of torture
World View: Kingdom that represses its Shia majority is to receive seal of approval from the Duke of York

The Duke of York will be the keynote speaker at a conference in London this Friday celebrating Bahrain as a place of religious freedom and tolerance of divergent opinions. Speaking during a visit to Bahrain last month, he said: "I believe that what's happening in Bahrain is a source of hope for many people in the world and a source of pride for Bahrainis."
This is very strange, as the island kingdom of Bahrain has a proven record of jailing and torturing protesters demanding democratic rights for the Shia majority, an estimated 60 per cent of Bahraini citizens, from the Sunni al-Khalifa monarchy. In its annual report on human rights, the US State Department identifies many abuses, the most serious of which include "citizens' inability to change their government peacefully; arrest and detention of protesters on vague charges, in some cases leading to their torture in detention". It draws attention to the fact that "discrimination [has] continued against the Shia population".

Prince Andrew withdraws from promotional event for Bahrain
Prince Andrew was billed as a keynote speaker at a promotional event for Bahrain, but he has now made it clear that he will not be there.

Bahrain’s record on human rights has made the Duke of York’s association with the kingdom controversial. He visited it frequently in his days as special representative for trade and investment and he had been touted as the keynote speaker at today’s This is Bahrain promotional event at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre in Westminster.

Wisely, perhaps, he has now made his excuses. “He has already committed to attend an economic event at Bloomberg and regrettably it wasn’t possible to attend both events,” says a royal official. “The Duke is, however, a long-standing supporter of the UK’s bilateral relationship with Bahrain.”

I hear that Prince Andrew will, however, be able to catch up with Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, at the Royal Windsor Horse Show this afternoon.

Now that the princesses are adults, he should cut Sarah loose and move her out of Royal Lodge; he's never going to move on beyond life if he doesn't make her leave. He no longer has to worry about the feelings of the princesses, they aren't kids and he's preventing himself from having a life of his own.

She's obviously piggybacking onto her daughters and she should have been forced to stand on her own two feet after the girls graduated from university.

The problem is that she has no real means of support. It would be awful PR for the mother of the Queen's granddaughters to be living in a council house or receiving unemployment benefits etc.

I remember the bad PR when Princess Alexandra's daughter was in a similar situation and the public were very critical of the royal family for expecting someone as close as Marina to the throne to be in that predicament and Beatrice and Eugenie are far closer than Marina has ever been so keeping their mother in reasonable state is something that they have to do.

She has no skills so no chance of a job - and those over 50 really do struggle to get jobs if they have no history of work and she has a very limited work history.

The other thing is - maybe Andrew really likes still having Sarah around. I think he is still in love with her in many ways and not just as the mother of his children but as his partner in life.

I realize that he is her son and she will love him no matter what, but can't she see that this isn't the time for him to be getting unnecessary promotions? This gives the impression that she condones his questionable and possibly illegal actions. Are none of her courtiers telling her this? Or is she just not listening? The sheer arrogance of the royals is stunning. :snob:

Well, all I can see is the old girl has officially lost the plot.  This should not have been awarded at this point in time.  What is she doing, showing the world she is rewarding him for his vile and disgusting behaviour.

Seriously, do this lot want the house of windsor to come crashing down, because they are all doing a lot to bring that about.

I think in this case especially, sfter PA promoted to Vice-Admiral, the more honours that the rf award themselves, is counterbalanced by the less honour he has in his private life. Maybe that's why he is getting the honour! lol

It makes them look ridiculous and out of touch. Smug too.

And drum roll here ....

The next honour he will get will be a chocolate medal. It will look so good on him, he'll want to eat it. (Appeals to my sense of humour).

Under-fire Prince Andrew gets some good news as the Queen promotes him to the rank of vice-admiral as a birthday present

The Queen has promoted her son Prince Andrew to the rank of vice-admiral in the Royal Navy for his 55th birthday next week, it was revealed today.

The Duke of York's appointment was rubber-stamped by his mother and announced in the London Gazette.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said his promotion from rear-admiral was 'approved by the Queen in line with long-standing convention covering military promotions for the royal family'.

He has been made vice-admiral because the Ministry of Defence believes this is the rank he would have reached had he not retired from the Royal Navy aged 41.

i think that Lizzy is just old. too old to make sane decisions. but i see this promotion as a very positive thing. it is clear that they tried to establish PA's character - a good father (Fergie's interview), a leader who helps so many businesses (Davos -where he was acting in a role  which he had quit years ago) and an honorable man (the promotion on a job from which he retired a decade ago). up to this point it's getting ridiculous. it is clear that PA's a rotten apple. but the way they try to cover it up - it's pathetic and it smells desperation. I'd say that they know all too well that the evidence against PA is not circumstantial and the only way to try and win the jury in a possible trial is with establishing him as the kind of person who would never do something like that. ... but to be promoted on a job you retired from doesn't make sense. did he get paid for the job he was not doing for the past 15 years? is he being promoted for doing nothing and getting paid for it. ... is this QE's revenge against Charles who cut her favorite son from the unlimited spending of taxpayer money and poor little PA wen't sobbing to mommy.

My money's on complete oblivion to any adverse affects from Andrew's behavior because that's what history has taught them.  Sort of.  However, it is very bad advice from his Advisor Lawyer because IF and I know it's an IF it goes to a US court, it will be just another brick in the wall against him.  It's meaningless to any judge and only shows a lack of connection with how the real world operates.  These folks are delusional.  It's really sad.  HM does not connect with this at all.

Andrew seems to have been promoted in honorary positions by the Ministry of Defence every five years or so since he retired.
In 2005 he became an Hon Captain
In 2010 Hon Rear Admiral
In 2015 (and terrible, terrible timing) Hon Vice Admiral.

Other European royal families do the same thing, that is, that senior royals hold top positions of an honorary nature.

In the BRF Charles holds honorary five star rank in all three branches of the Armed Services. Prince Philip is senior to him and is a hon Field Marshal, Admiral of the Fleet and Air Marshal of the RAF.  (He retired from active service more than 60 years ago.) The duke of Kent is an Honorary Field Marshal and an hon Air Chief Marshall.

Leaving Andrew out of the equation for the moment, the rationale behind it is that one day Charles and then William will symbolically be Commanders in Chief of the Armed Forces, which in Britain go to war in the Sovereign's name 'For King/Queen and Country'. Therefore, as C's in C they have to have the highest rank. Philip is Consort and was a naval officer and because of long service to the country wax given the honours he has. Both he and the Duke of Kent were long term Counsellors of State (serving in emergencies if the sovereign is out of the country.

My take on this is that they have this humungous sense of importance and entitlement.  I have stated before and I will state this again, the whole of the royal family are murderous, evil paedophiles.  What Andrew has allegedly done means nothing to them. It is an inconvenience that it has come to light.  It does not even scrape the top of the barrel and is certainly nothing to lose any sleep about.  They are protected here and abroad and nothing can ever happen to them, however much we wish it could.

Does that include William, Harry, Anne, Zara, Peter Phillips and their families, the Kents, Sophie and Edward Wessex and their family, the Gloucesters, can one ask?

it's not fair to put the whole family under a common denominator. Fergie and Andrew are nothing like Zara. Zara's so cute. And William - his only crimes so far are adultery (rumored), animal cruelty (inherited), and laziness (of which there is no cure). As for Harry - he is also working towards a higher rank and even if it's gifted to him - at least through his charity work he IS helping the soldiers, and IS making a difference in their lives and for this only  - he deserves all future honors that he is awarded.

^This is all true and it's never wise to bunch a whole group of people together.  However, I will say that there is a built-in system within the BRF that falls back on the sense of entitlement.  It's difficult for me in the sense that medals are given based on merit, usually, in the US, not because of your family lineage.  It's a strange, rarefied world that they all live in and when the moment comes to say to one's self "is this illegal? is this the right thing to do to represent my country?"  I believe that something switches off on more than one occasion and they know there's a protection value in place.

If they were voted in, it would be different to me, I guess.  But, they're not.  Nobody gets to choose who sits on that throne, or ride that boat or any of that.  And it fascinates but repels me at the same time.

The good news with Andrew is that the US court system is a level playing field so if this blows up in his face there is no safety net here other than Lady Justice.  Just a judge or a judge/jury and good luck finding "fellow peers" in a US jury.

Isn't it time for the Queen to end the convention of promoting her family members to ranks they would have held if still in the forces?
By promoting Prince Andrew to Vice Admiral, the Queen, always blind to his shortcomings, shows utter contempt for the British public.

^^ Agree, and at such a "delicate" time with current allegations not being taken into account.  How awful for genuine, active for years members of the forces to see such a person given that rank and title for doing what - nothing.  Bet anything you like he was well hidden and safe during the Falklands war, not even in the firing line. Like Harry, always hidden away in a bunker for dangerous situations.

HM makes a mockery of that tile, too blind to see what an odious creature her second son is and what an unpleasant, boorish person he is.

I wonder what they promised Koo; the RF did Koo a dirty turn so many years ago. Koo didn't do anything TOO graphic and she wasn't someone who was a stranger to comfort. She was supposedly able to calm Andrew down and got him on a good track. Her transgressions weren't that bad and Fergie was so much wilder and racier. I wonder just what the BRF was thinking covering up Fergie's premarital messing around, but dissing Koo. No one in the aristocracy is turning out to help or say good things about him, something very telling.

If being a Counsellor of State is a qualification then Andrew certainly does qualify - having been one since the 19th February 1981 - so for nearly 34 years. The Duke of Kent only served in that position from when he turned 21 in October 1956 until the current Duke of Gloucester turned 21 in August 1965 - or for less than 9 years

Andrew will continue to be a CoW until George turns 21, if that happens in the current reign (2034) or until the new baby turns 21 in Charles' reign  (2036) or until a new baby after that in William's reign as he is the 4th adult over 21 in the line of succession at the moment. The other CoS are Charles, William, Harry and Philip - the first four in the line of succession over 21, except for the heir apparent who takes on that role at 18, and the consort of the monarch.

The CoS's serve whenever the Monarch is out of the country for more than three days - that has been the main times they have served in the present reign.

Prince Andrew's extraordinary new mission to save teenage sex slaves: After THOSE lurid accusations in US are dropped, the Duke acts to save girls beaten, starved and forced into sex

the Duke of York to rescue teenage sex slaves in India at the same time he faced damning allegations that he had slept with one in America. But one thing is for certain: it definitely took guts.

With a remarkable initiative combining the unlikely bedfellows of fashion and compassion, it can be revealed that Prince Andrew has personally changed the fate of more than 100 vulnerable young women in Calcutta.

Rescued from brothels and domestic servitude, child labour and human trafficking, the girls have been taught tailoring and silk printing through a charity called Key to Freedom.

That article is pure pr/spin in an effort to rehabilitate PA.  The judge hasn't exonerated him but struck his name from the present case because the allegations surrounding him don't relate directly to the case before the court. The judge said "“At this juncture in the proceedings, these lurid details are unnecessary”. Judge Marra wrote in his order, issued at the US district court in southern Florida on Tuesday morning. “These unnecessary details shall be stricken.”  The judge made no ruling or statement about the veracity of Roberts’s allegations. He said the “factual details regarding with whom and where” she had sex were “immaterial and impertinent” to her argument that she should be allowed to join the lawsuit. Roberts may well appear as a witness in the trial and these allegations will surface again if she does.  PA is certainly not out of the woods yet

Prince Andrew rammed closed park gates with his £80,000 Range Rover to avoid a one-mile detour home

Prince Andrew reportedly smashed his 80,000 Ranger Rover through closed park gates to avoid a one-mile detour.

The Queen's son is said to have left Windsor Great Park with a bill of thousands of pounds, following the incident on Sunday.

It's claimed the 56-year-old rammed open the gates after returning to Royal Lodge, which was given to him by his mother in 2003.

A park worker told The Sun: 'It was a crazy thing to do and we are jokingly calling it "ParkGate".

'But seriously, he has a bit of a reputation for roaring around like Toad of Toad Hall and he seems to think he can do what he likes.'

'The gate stops deer roaming and the Prince uses it as a short cut. For some reason the sensors didn't work. Instead of going a mile out of his way, he just decided to ram it open.'

Buckingham Palace and the Crown Estate, which owns Windsor Great Park, both refused to comment on the incident.

It's not the first time the Duke of York has got himself in a spot of bother with his Range Rover.

In 2013, he received a parking ticket after the vehicle was left unattended on double yellow lines.

Prince Andrew had left his 4x4 in Mayfair, central London, while dining at private members' club LouLou's, when a ticket was placed on the vehicle by a warden.

I do think they were brought up to believe that they were so far above above anyone else, just cause they're Royal, but with the Internet and information being so freely available now, we are finding out what they are really like, warts n all. And it's not pretty.

Does anyone else remember that story of PA, when he was young, still sitting in the car after being driven back home one night to BP by a palace chauffeur and not getting out of the car as the chauffeur forgot to open the door for him? He, PA, was still sitting in the car much later refusing to move until the chauffeur actually ran back after forgetting to open the car door, and PA was still sitting there like the arrogant so and so he is!

The driver was very upset but It just shows PA sense of entitlement that someone menial just had to open the door for him.

I mean he would open it fast enough of he was bursting to answer a call of nature, wouldn't he?!

I mean what an arrogant tw#t he is, plus we pay for him out of our hard earned taxes!

Now if he had to pay for the gate to be fixed out of his own money, then he'd be much more careful, wouldn't  he?

He's no better than the council tenants next door to me. Why should they pay when someone else can! Same sense of entitlement.

^And makes me want to vomit that "mummy" always gets it covered up for him.  If my son was of the same nature I would not be covering up for him, or awarding him with a gong afterwards when all covered over.  You go off and molest the kids son, I have a lovely reward for you on your return home  -  another award, unearned, to go along with the others on your jacket.  No chance of that happening with me, he would be made to face up to what he did and live with the consequeances.  I can never look at that vile lot now without thinking of those young kids.  Not just PA either, from what we read in the media these days rife in the family, and "mummy" just as bad for not just turning a blind eye but doing all the covering up and rewarding the behaviour.  Makes you wonder just how bad it was before the internet.  No doubt a lot of damage done to the car as well, no doubt the taxpayer will pay for that as well.

Prince Andrew enjoys a late-night dinner with a glamorous blonde at a restaurant near Buckingham Palace (but he drove himself home)

He has been linked to supermodels and party girls, and now Prince Andrew has been seen on a late-night dinner date with a mystery blonde woman in London.

The 56-year-old royal - who has previously been dubbed 'Randy Andy' - was spotted arriving at trendy Japanese restaurant, Kouzu, in Grosvenor Gardens, just a stroll away from Buckingham Palace.

The Prince, who is father to Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, appeared nervous after the meeting and was seen biting his nails as he left the restaurant separately to the unknown woman on Wednesday.

Andrew and 'a £4 million kickback': Duke brokered £385m deal for Greek firm and corrupt regime while acting as British trade envoy

Prince Andrew acted as a fixer for a foreign consortium in corrupt Kazakhstan, leaked emails reveal.
The Queen's son was allegedly in line for £4million in commission from a murky deal in the oil-rich country – while also working as a special trade envoy for Britain. He used his status as a royal to help kickstart the £385million venture on behalf of Greek and Swiss clients.
Anti-monarchy campaigners last night called for an inquiry.

'Air Miles' Andrew, a secret deal on behalf of his chums and a very disturbing conflict of interests: So is this how the jetsetting Prince could afford a £13million ski chalet?
Duke and Duchess of York spent millions on luxury chalet in Swiss Alps
He acted as a 'fixer' helping foreign firms pursue business opportunities
Helped Swiss & Greek firms when employed to promote UK firms abroad
Used his status to kickstart a £385m venture on behalf of foreign clients
Duke of York was allegedly in line for £3.85m in commission from deal

Andrews’s PR has the hardest royal job since Richard III’s tailor, says Camilla Tominey
As the furore threatened to engulf Buckingham Palace in a constitutional crisis following days of lurid headlines, the Duke of York issued what amounted to a rare apology. For a man not prone to humility the admission, through a spokesman, that remaining in touch with depraved Epstein had not only been “unwise” but “foolish” was quite a revelation.

For as I have learned in more than a decade covering the Royal Family, it is one thing for “Air Miles Andy” to make an error of judgment but quite another for him to actually own up to it. The confession came four years after the 56-year-old was forced to give up his role as the UK’s trade envoy for standing by the billionaire businessman, even after he had served 18 months for soliciting an underage girl for prostitution.

The victim, Virginia Roberts, also claimed she was forced to have sex with Andrew, a claim he has always vehemently denied. Now Andrew finds himself at the centre of yet another controversy after a newspaper accused him of using his connections, while working as Britain’s “special representative” for Trade & Investment, to broker a deal with Kazakhstan in return for an alleged £4million kickback.

I never fail to be amazed at how disgustingly coddled and indulged these nutwits are.

In the past, royals were heavily educated, heavily trained, and didn't pull have the BS they did against their family and country. The Windsors have to be the most uneducated, untrained, and blatantly corrupt royals in British history. This man is completely under-educated, married a worthless tart who exploits her relationship with her daughters, and then he negotiates trade deals that benefit him, or the BRF, not the nation or Commonwealth.

HM is a total failure as a Sovereign.

Is the statutory violent physical attack (I've tried to type the word r ap e in here and it keeps automatically changing it to "violent physical attack") the reason PC cut PA out of prominence in the RF?  In my heart I don't believe all those men didn't know the girls were too young.  I think that's the attraction.  They are a very worldly group and could probably have whom they wanted of legal age.  Power is an aphrodisiac, they'd have women ready and willing whenever they wanted.  Perhaps these men were guaranteed discretion and safety with the young girls.  Virginia Roberts may have appeared willing but IMO she possibly didn't realise how she was being used illegally.

It seems Beatrice and Eugenie, whom I truly admire and believe to be real assets to the RF, have to suffer because of PA's unethical and criminal actions.  The RF needs those girls in the forefront, along with PH, as the faces of the young royals!

^ Yes, 'Air Miles Andy' was fired from being a British Trade Ambassador' years ago. However, Andy seems to have partly inherited Prince Philip's portfolio of Royal engagement in the field of British science, technology, business entrepreneurship over the last decade. And so, under the guise of being a promoter of British businesses he still manages to slither his way onto several missions like this annually. He's got the hide of an elderly rhino, so criticism like this wouldn't faze him.

Prince Andrew tried to broker crown property deal for Kazakh oligarch
Duke of York’s office urged crown estate to sell London house to tycoon who bought Andrew’s house for £3m over asking price

Prince Andrew acted as a broker for a Kazakh oligarch who wanted to buy a London home from the Queen’s estate, documents released under the Freedom of Information Act have revealed.

The Duke of York’s office tried to secure a crown estate property near Kensington Palace for the oil and gas tycoon Timur Kulibayev at the same time as his marital home of Sunninghill Park was being sold to the billionaire for £3m over the asking price.

The duke was a government trade envoy at the time of the attempted deal for Kulibayev, son-in-law of the Kazakh president, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Its emergence is likely to fuel calls for further investigation into his dealings with the autocratic regime.

According to the emails released to the Mail on Sunday, the Duke of York’s private secretary, Amanda Thirsk, urged the crown estate to sell one of its valuable Kensington properties to Kulibayev, saying: “They are happy to spend very large numbers to get the right property.”

Andrew spends £5,000 of taxpayers' money flying himself and banker friend from Windsor to Kent in the royal helicopter so they could play golf
Prince Andrew spent £5,000 of public funds to fly the president of the World Bank to the Kent coast for a game of golf.
The Queen’s son used a taxpayer-funded helicopter to take Jim Yong Kim to the Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club in Deal on Sunday.
The aircraft is one of two made available to members of the Royal Family for travelling to official engagements, the cost of which is met by government grants given to the Queen each year.
The helicopter picked up the Duke of York from his home in Windsor Great Park, waited for the pair to enjoy their round and then returned at a cost of around £5,000.
Andrew had no other official engagements that day, which raises the question of why he chose not to make the 112-mile, two-hour journey by car.
Buckingham Palace declined to say how he knows Washington-based Dr Kim, 56, whether they had met before or what the Duke hoped to achieve by the day out.
The prince, who now has no official royal role, has faced repeated criticism for his use of taxpayer-funded helicopters.
Details of Sunday’s trip were not listed in Monday’s Court Circular, the official record of royal engagements. It was listed yesterday, however, after the Mail inquired about the jaunt.
Andrew, sixth in line to the throne, took up golf shortly after becoming an officer in the Navy in 1979.
But after leaving in 2001 to become a full-time royal his game has become so good he has a reported handicap of four – meaning he could take up the sport professionally.
One PGA pro said in 2009: ‘You can’t become that good unless you are totally committed and get out playing as regularly as possible.’

^^ Wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Could be damage control by him, as I'd think he pays attention to the public's opinion and his daughters look worse by each day, partly thanks to their parents. So this statement might be to appease the public and not necessarily reflect the truth, but simply tell the public what the public wants to hear to back off, whilst making sure that any possible family rift is glossed over as untrue (Chuck & Andy).

Air miles Andy up to his old tricks: Prince Andrew's helicopter jaunt costs you £3,000

THE Duke of York took a helicopter flight costing the taxpayer thousands of pounds to a royal engagement just seven miles away from Sandringham – despite planning to spend Christmas there in a fortnight’s time.

If they retire they do not get free lodgings. I wonder how will they pay thei houses then. And people will not accepts them getting the priveledges without working.

I think he's never had to pay for anything so he has no idea how much things cost. Very out of touch.

Andrew paid the lease on Royal Lodge for 75 years so he will have lodgings for the rest of his life and for most, if not all, of his daughters' lives.

The helicopter story is a beat-up.

All the royals use helicopters all over the country for a range of engagements and many of them will be near a royal home or be close to where they will be for some other reason or other within a couple of weeks. This is just another '*despise* on Andrew' story probably as he has called out the media for the stories about his family in recent weeks.

What's a shame is that he continues to get away with this. It's no wonder Charles doesn't want him or his kids involved as a working royal in the slimmed down monarchy. It's also no wonder that he and his ex-wife and kids try to get back at Charles by interfering with Harry's life.

^ At least he was working during his trips. Although I do think he should cut back on spending, money is tight for many families these days and it doesn't look good.

On each of those visits he has been meeting with business people and often with the local Head of State.

I suspect that just as Charles, Camilla, William and Kate are being used to help with Brexit in Europe they government is using Andrew in that role in Asia and the Middle East where he already has many contacts.

I know the rumours that Charles plans a 'smaller royal family' but that is all they are - rumours. The origin of those rumours is a comment allegedly made by Charles in a 'Way Ahead Group' meeting in 1992. That group has been disbanded.

The suggestion also was never that the current working members of the family would stop doing so but rather that only William and Harry and their spouses would be required in the next generation.

That is even contradicted by the fact that I have heard that Beatrice wasn't told until 2011 that she wouldn't be needed ever and that was after she had started university. She had asked a number of times and been told she would be working in much the same was that Princess Alexandra has done and then after William and Kate's wedding was told 'you will never be working for the family'. The only other person who has now been told that is Eugenie, according to my sources.

Charles better wake up and smell the coffee about Bea and Eugenie. They do a good job for the Firm. Never embarrass. They do it right. Unlike Council Cath and his two spawn. Harry was doing a good job until all this recent disaster with his spouting off and with the girl friend. Willy performs unbelievably poorly. Bea and Eugenie cannot help who their parents are. These girls should be given a larger role.

They are articulate and intelligent and know how to behave when carrying out Royal duties.  They can also emphasise with people in a way council Cath can't.  They don't crotch and butt  flash, point or guffaw in an unseemingly manner either.  They behaved with dignity in the Ascot carriages not in the open mouthed idiotic way Cath did.  PA is said to be proud of their abilities  to do  excellent job.

They really need to be considered. Harry and Oh So Weak Willy do not want the job. The Viper and Her Council Estate Daughter do but they don't count. Move the two loser boys aside and give it to Beatrice or Eugenie.

I like that Bea and Eugenie, even though they could benefit from a stylist to find clothes that are more flattering to their figures, never flash their privates in public. We don't have any photos of their bare bottoms, breasts, or frontal area.  :thankyou: The same cannot be said about Kate or Meghan.

If it's true that Bea was told in 2011 that she wouldn't be needed to work for the Firm, that just confirms that Kate doesn't like the York sisters. They didn't get along before the engagement so Kate wanted to get rid of them once she married in. The problem is that William, Kate, and Harry are lazy (bare minimum that they can get away with) as far as doing appearances and the RF could benefit from Bea and Eugenie doing some appearances. Also shows how stubborn PW is that he still married Kate even though his family didn't like her.

Bea and Eugie are lovely and would do a great job, unfortunately for them their uncle Charles is a greedy and insecure man, who does not want to pay for them and does not want to share the spotlight with others.

The Monarchy will be on a very slippery slope once the Queen goes.  If Chaz has any sense he would sideline embarrassing Cath and use the York girls who behave with decorum, warmth and genuine compassion and QE likes them too.  Prince Andrew needs to pull his socks up and repair his reputation.

Beatrice and Eugenie are blood princesses with titles. IMO they should be working for "The Firm". I know Kate probably doesn't like them (skating event, fashion show in the pre-engagement years), but does Charles forget they are his nieces, not some random strangers? Even if he doesn't get along well with his brother (maybe resents him being the "favourite" child even though Andrew is 11 years younger and they basically didn't even grow up together because they were so far apart in age), he is still family.

He has posted an appeal online for people working in the world of secrets to get involved in his Pitch at the Palace scheme for new businesses.

‘Are you an entrepreneur, working in the world of data, intelligence and the future of security?’ asked his Twitter account. ‘We’re looking for the businesses of tomorrow to apply for Pitch at the Palace.’ "

Thing is, they WANT to work and do appearances; Charles refuses to see that there is no way that his kids will handle the load of engagements and clearly they want to do duties. A slimmed down monarchy can't work unless substantial structural changes are made.

Air Miles Andy is at it again! This time, Prince Andrew takes a helicopter to neighbouring towns (in the same week his brother chartered a private jet)
Prince Andrew commandeered a private helicopter for a day of official engagements that started just 21 miles from his home – at a cost of up to £5,000.
What's more, the prince – dubbed Air Miles Andy for his love of luxury travel – also used a chauffeur-driven car which took him to a nearby airfield … to fly 54 miles back to his Windsor mansion.
The Queen's son, who does not receive any official government funding but does have the cost of his official travel met by taxpayers, kicked off his Thursday with breakfast at Royal Lodge, a stone's throw from Windsor Castle.
He then flew in the executive helicopter to officially open the British and Ireland headquarters of pharmaceutical giant Bayer in Reading.

Why?  :dontknow:  He’s hardly the man for the job.
Prince Andrew deployed on ‘Brexit diplomacy’ mission to HUNGARY
PRINCE Andrew will travel to Hungary on a diplomatic visit, as requested by the Government and will meet the nationalist Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
The Duke of York will make the trip later this month for three days, during which he will meet Mr Orban, the right-wing nationalist leader who returned to office in April.
Prince Andrew, 58, will also meet Hungary’s president Janos Ader and foreign affairs minister Peter Szijjarto during his visit.
The focus of his trip will be on events promoting education, science, technology and engineering.
This trend was first observed in July last year when the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William took their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte on a five-day family tour of Poland.
Commentators called the visit an example of ‘Brexit diplomacy’ aimed to charm Europe.  :bored: It seems more of an embarrassing waste of time and money.

I do believe that this is a horrible idea; I have no idea WHY the House of Windsor is so invested in being part of the EU, especially when their own people basically voted to leave. I'm sure the Hungarian president has more important things than hosting a dolt Windsor on a costly vanity tour for his nation.

It's got nothing at all to do with whether the BRF want or don't want Britain to stay in the EU, though. The British government want to create a feeling between them and countries within the EU of 'no hard feelings in spite of the Brexit vote...' Therefore part of the 'soft diplomacy' or charm offensive in the aftermath of that decision and while negotiations are still going on is to send senior members of the Royal family on short goodwill visits. The Government wants these royals to do it and so they go. It's not their decision.

I laughed when I read that the first time this was done was on William and Kate's trip last year when it was also the reason for Charles and Camilla's visits to Italy and Austria earlier in the year and was touted as such by the British government.

There have been a series of visits by members of the BRF to European countries at the request of the UK government ever since Brexit.

Rosella - you are spot on when you say it isn't the request of the BRF but the insistence of the British Government. The British royals go where they are told, say what they are told to say, entertain whom they are told to entertain and the government does the telling.

The focus that Andrew seems to be looking at - education and science - fits with the areas where he has been working in Britain and the Commonwealth with the Pitch at Palace idea over recent years. This is an area of interest for him going back decades now so the government is also matching the royal with the area in which they want to visit to focus.

^^ & ^ Very true.

^^^ I believe the Winds are not thrilled about the Brexit vote, they are now bound to lose millions in farming aid they were receiving from the EU. Of course we're unlikely to find out how exactly they feel about it, but I'm sure they are not happy. In general the whole upper crust was (is) against Brexit, that includes not only the aristos, but business and finance people.

I think it's mostly lower classes and those with less disposable income who voted for Brexit (I should get my hands on the demographics somewhere, but I believe this is the divide amongst voters), but then a large part (nearly 50%?!?!) of the population eligible to vote didn't vote at all...

PS The most ridiculous of all are still all the "charm offensives" with the Cambs! lol seriously! What charm!

^

It is most definitely not the lower class who have voted for Brexit.  I am very involved in the local Conservatives in this area and it is the intelligent thinkers who have vote for Brexit.  Remainers  are most definitely those with a vested personal interest.

^Agree.  My husband and I voted Brexit, and many, many of our friends and family also  My husband is a very staunch Conservative supporter.

Have to agree to disagree on this one:

I think it's mostly lower classes and those with less disposable income who voted for Brexit

Our family and friends are not lower class and do not have a lesser disposable income.  Those are not reasons to support and vote for Brexit.  They did try to manipulate the voting figures initially, but it got them nowhhere. There are many in the higher echelons who also voted for Brexit.  The PTB just want people to think that the public who are working tirelessly to support their familes and living to a budget are the only ones who wanted Brexit, and that is so vastly wrong.   TM was a remainer, probably still is at heart, not exactly the right choice for a PM at this point in time if your heart is not in it.

We want our country returned to us, not governed by a corrupt EU.  We never wanted to enter the EU in the first place, the decision was not voted in by the public.  The UK give more money to the EU than they get out of it, that is not fair either.  Many people wanted Brexit  -  sadly the remainers are very bad losers.

Even the man in the street with little at his disposable is allowed to have a vote for what they want  -  Brexit, for a variety of reasons.  You don´t have to be intelligent to know how many beans make 5, never under estimate the little man in the council house, he could be even more intelligent than many in the government.  No harm in being poor and wanting to better yourself.

The remainers will manipulate figures to try and show it was the men in the street who had most votes, they don´t want us to know how many in the higher echelons voted, and will do their utmost to hide it in any way they can.

TALK OF THE TOWN: Andy's Koo threatens TV hit The Crown with legal action over affair amid fears she will be portrayed as a minx
Koo originally wrote to the show’s executive producer Andy Harries earlier this year but after receiving no reply, decided to consult lawyers. The third and fourth series are currently being filmed, and will soon address the years when Koo was involved with Andrew.
A spokesman for The Crown confirmed they had received letters from Koo and said she won’t be in the next series – but couldn’t guarantee she wouldn’t feature in any subsequent productions.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6425233/Andys-Koo-threatens-TV-hit-Crown-legal-action-affair.html
It’s a bit embarrassing if it’s true because she presumed herself important to be added to the show where the producers indicated that she’s not being added, IMO.
Mods, please move if it belongs in The Crown thread.
