Madeleine is in US more and more these days... I understand that she needed some time off Sweden after the collapse of her engagement with Jonas but sooner or later she needs to start doing some royal work in Sweden. The Nobel ceremony was a good opportunity to start, she always seemed to enjoy it...

Title: Re: The Nobels
Post by: Dahlia on December 12, 2010, 10:57:55 pm
What I heard is that she was disturbed about her father and this book. And some people say he forced her to break up with Jonas, she wanted to give him a second chance. But other told me it was Silvia. She didin´t want that Madde has the same marriage like her.
When the new renovated Haga Palace (Victorias new home) opened, she was just few hours there, because of Sofia. She didn´t want to meet her unloved "SIL". CP said to her, how it hurts that she ignors Sofia.
I think this was too much for her this year.  :there:

If her mother forced a breakup because of her wanting a grander marriage, this is all the more reason you do not marry a commoner of you're royal. If Gustav had cared about that, Silvia would not have been married, but kept as a mistress while a real princess married Gustav.

Secondly, Victoria looks perfect in that dress and tiara. Perfect dress and perfect tiara to go along with it, she looks really arresting in it, exotic almost.

If her father didn't let her take Jonas back, good for her father since Madeleine deserves more than a filthy cheater like Jonas.

If I wouldn't know better I'd say Madeleine forgot to wear the necklace (http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l607/AimeeDurand/Amethysts/amethyst5.jpg) that comes with the amethyst parure.
And this is the moment she realizes something is missing in the picture! :tehe:

The Swedish Royal Family May Be the World's Most Beautiful Aristocrats

There's good genes, and then there's whatever magic the Swedish royal family possesses.

At the Nobel Prize ceremony held in Stockholm on Wednesday, the Scandinavian royals were on full display, and the Swedes were hands down the belles and beaus of the ball.

Here's a look at who's who among this gorgeous royal clan

King Carl Gustav was certainly not handsome even when he was young. Victoria, bless her, is a lovely girl but has a massive chin. The 'new recruit' has foul teeth. Madeleine is certainly pretty, Carl Philip is good looking but any looks they possess came with Sylvia.

What accessories could improve that dress? The main problem is that she is showing her breasts in every photo... The cheap dress could have had a pass without that.

Post by: cate1949 on December 18, 2014, 11:44:12 pm
what a spectacular job from Victoria - the whole family.  She had to wear three formal dresses and each one is just perfect.  At the ceremony - the red ball gown - I love it and the jewelry is perfect.  The blue dress at the King's dinner - lovely.  Real knockout though with the gold dress at the major dinner.   Regal in every way.

Madeline is a pretty woman and so glad she gave up the blonde look.  Like the pink dress she wears to the ceremony the best - wow those amethysts (?) the earrings and brooch - very nice.

And of course Momma who loves her sapphire parure - who could blame her?

Sofia looked cheap - sorry - the dress just looks wrong.

The Swedes have some collection of jewels - enough to keep those three ladies well stocked over three formal events

They have the best updos for tiaras. The others could upgrade their hairstylists.

So this year except the monarchs and the crown princes couple the rest are seated with the plebs. I don't know why they cannot keep CP and Madde up in the scenario and their partners down. At least until Estelle and sibling attend.

yes the flowers are beautiful

I'm not sure about any of the dresses. Victoria's nice but nothing to talk about. I love the fabric of Madde's but not sure about the neckline. Sofia's skirt doesn't suit a pregnant woman.

Madde's tiara is supposedly owned by one of her aunts so it must be a loan. It's sad because she is the one who looks best in aquamarines of the family.

Tiaras present include:

Princess Madeleine in the Aquamarine Kokoshnik
Princess Sofia in the Emerald Palmette
Princess Christina in the Six Button

Here is a video of the SRF walking into the banquet.     http://www.expressen.se/tv/nyheter/glad-kungafamilj-anlande-till-nobelfesten/

The Queen looks warm and motherly to me and I love her tiara.   The King is a jerk as always, walking ahead when his wife struggles on the step.

Victoria looks better in movement and I love her tiara and the jewel in her bun.   She's at that puffy stage of pregnancy and so a repeat of that fabulous red dress last year just wasn't going to happen this year.  She wore what worked.

Sofia is ridiculous in her small, shiny tiara and stopping to grin and wave at someone as if she were celebrity at the Oscar's.  She stopped the flow of the procession and Chris and Maddie almost bumped into them.  I bet Maddie was ready to drop kick her into the banquet hall.

I think Madeleine is by far the best dressed this year.  Her tiara is wonderful and her dress is very elegant.

^ Yes, love the hair and tiaras!

^ And double yes to Sofia's tiara looking like a teen girl prom tiara (well, I put in the prom part; you did not, Fly)

Here's another photo of Sofia looking all graceful:

http://media.shootitlive.com/J2qYsTACjx3poYvOsyGxZIaq9I2/1200.jpg?project_id=expressen/2105%20%A0

And Madeliene's lovely dress:  http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/12/10/20/2F402E7700000578-3354970-Princess_Madeleine_L_and_Nobel_Chemistry_Prize_2015_co_winner_US-a-100_1449777934002.jpg

Sofia was the only one of the royal women who had to pick up her dress to her knees to walk down the stairs.  Reminiscent of her mother at the wedding . . . .  :ick:

Maybe Sofia wanted to show off her shoe's  :dontknow:
Don't they do that in Hollywood?
I mean in those 'E red carpet' things they flash the shoes all the time.
Or she felt uncertain about tripping on the stairs...

Title: Re: The Nobels
Post by: YooperModerator on December 11, 2015, 03:05:39 pm
^If I was pregnant, I'd hold my skirt up, too, to avoid tripping, so I agree.  It's a no-brainer, to me.

Title: Re: The Nobels
Post by: Miss Hathaway on December 11, 2015, 03:13:56 pm
^^  Well, this pregnant woman did not have to hold up her skirt.   http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/12/10/20/2F40106A00000578-3354970-Victoria_entered_on_the_arm_of_Nobel_Chemistry_Prize_2015_co_win-a-77_1449777933377.jpg

And this pregnant woman is a former model, so she should be used to . . . oops!  She modeled without clothes.   I guess that's the problem.  It's much easier to walk down stairs when you're naked.    :bouncy:

And, yes, celebrities do all kinds of things and show off all kinds of stuff on the red carpet.  Sofia wants to be a celebrity.  She'll learn.      :bored:

^I like the blue color a lot on Victoria and think she looks lovely as does Sofia; great choice for her.

^^ I like the deep blue on the Queen and Victoria.  Both improved from last night, I think.  Madeliene has a silver theme going on this year, evidently.  I really like it.    And Sofia looks better than she has.   Still stuck with the prom tiara, though.

Here are a couple more shots:

^ Looks like the Jewel vaults aren't opening yet for Sofia, though her gown was an improvement. The trouble is that she has a mother in law who really rocks tiaras and has her favourites, and two sisters in law who get to pick their selections (or are loaned them) before Sofia gets a look in! We'll see what happens next year.

Weird that she used her tiara for both galas. Though there are not many tiaras once you eliminate those used only by the queen and Victoria she could have used the amethysts and the 4 buttons.

Yeah Victoria won this year. I liked Madde but they were not as well done. Sofia looked over botoxed in the second gala but looked much better than in the first.

I loved Vic's dress this year, she looked beautiful and regal! I think Madde won second for me. Her pink Poofy dress was cute. I'm surprised that Sofia was able to wear two new tiaras this year and when she wears a green dress that would match, she doesn't.  :/

Victoria looked magnificent! I really like the cut of the dress. The Steel Cut Tiara and Cameo necklace worked perfectly with it.

The color of Madeleine’s dress was beautiful, but it was too big on her. The dress would have looked amazing with a more fitted top. Her hair toghether with the Connaught tiara looked really stunning.

God only knows what Sofia was thinking when she chose to wear that dress. The color looks good on her but the shape of the dress is just odd. And I don’t get why she didn’t wear her hair up toghether with her emerald wedding tiara. The whole look was just a mess.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden sings along to the national anthem as she and sister-in-law Princess Sofia dazzle in tiaras at the annual Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden attended Nobel Prize ceremony at Stockholm's concert hall
Royal, 41, wore a dazzling tiara, a voluminous pink and grey ballgown and a ceremonial sash
Her brother Prince Carl-Philip and his wife, Princess Sofia, also attended the prestigious ceremony
Princess Sofia, 34, looked equally glamorous in a red floor length gown, pearl choker and a sparkling tiara

Victoria dress is very 80's... but I like that she reuses her mother's clothes.

I think Sofia dress could have work if it had less shoulders. And other type of arms...

^ Yeah also not a fan of the choker on Sof, I think Madde wore it a few times as well, I never liked this one (if it is the same, if not they are similar).

I love Vic's dress! Esp the different colours!

Title: Re: The Nobels
Post by: Alexandrine on December 10, 2018, 09:22:08 pm
The funny thing is that the choker is new. So even having a similar one CP had to buy one for her. I think she looked happy to have all thr limelight for her. And they dont loan jewels to her. When Victoria is queen we are going to see a lot of changes.

Title: Re: The Nobels
Post by: HRHOlya on December 10, 2018, 10:00:25 pm
^ omg! I suspected it was another choker! It's even uglier than the one Madde wore, because Madde's pearls are bigger, so it looks nicer.
They really lend her the bare minimum, it's hilarious! I'd love a crystal ball to see what the jewellery lending would be like had Emma or another woman who's a good woman married in!

I can't believe Sof just had to buy a piece the family already owns. The copy-catting of Madde is out of control with Sof.

Title: Re: The Nobels
Post by: Alexandrine on December 10, 2018, 10:06:27 pm
I think if it was Emma she would have used everything Madde uses. Minor jewels but all of them. But not even Silvia must like Sofia. And not even CG has made Silvia loan jewels to Sofia.

That discussion must have been something else. Though probably CG will let CP inherit nearly everything that doesnt need to go to Victoria. And I see Vic throwing them out of the palace afterwards.

It's just not the same without the gorgeous Madde.  Is she retiring from appearances?   Too bad.    I loved the three Swedish royal women and their fierce tiara wear.

Sofia doesn't count.    :James:

^ She's not retiring, but due to living in the US she'll make fewer appearances in Sweden, which is why she's not at the Nobels this year.
And yeah I agree!

Something’s “off” this year with the Nobels.  Can’t put my finger on it.  Seems kind of flat. Maybe it is a lack of more fierce tiaras.

What seems off to me, is a lack of upbeat high spiritedness that usually surrounds the SRF this time of year. Usually Victoria and the rest of the family are perky, energetic, and happy. This time Victoria seems oddly pensive and as if she's coming down from some kind of high that she was on after she married her brother. As for Madeleine, she should be there; as a Princess of Sweden she is still supported by the taxpayer and she should be there honoring the winners with her presence.

I think it was her moving. My mother read it somewhere and told me.

The king didnt like that she went again to USA and that she didnt go to the nobels. Silvia had to help to heal the rift. Shd will attend her fathers bday this december.

I do think she shouldn't be living in the USA and getting Swedish taxpayer money and ignoring the Nobel ceremony. This is a huge event for Sweden and I am certain that Madeleine is being stupid in missing this major event. She's a Princess of Sweden, not a Princess of Palm Beach.

Title: Re: The Nobels
Post by: HRHOlya on December 14, 2018, 11:48:41 pm
Madeleine only gets taxpayer's money when she actually works, i.e. makes an appearance etc. She does not get complete funding like e.g. Harry does. The Swedes do it differently, so her living in the US (or London or wherever outside Sweden) is actually a plus for the Swedish taxpayer, because fewer appearances = less apanage.
